So after my first post about the saw, I'm now actually using
The uses of an old table saw:
The max depth of the cut is roughly 20 centimeters so we are mainly making beams and planks from pine trees. This type of saw is very common in Slavic countries. It's cheap, simple, and reliable.
How to use it:
This is an old saw without proper protection I can't recommend using it without a riving knife and proper protection. I wear a helmet and a body front protector. The riving knife will be installed soon this also improves the straightness.
This saw can handle round logs directly without clamping you lift the log up and saw it exactly through the middle. Bigger logs are sawn on all 4 edges and then sawn in planks or it stays a beam. It's all sawn by eye but with a rigid big sawblade cutting straight and parallel is easier than it looks.
Benefits over a mini bandsaw mill:
This type of saw has a lot of benefits over a bandsaw mill. It's cheaper (250 euro), more reliable, fast, electric, portable, it's perfect for pine and no need to change the blade.
The biggest downsides are you have to lift the log, the cut is thick you lose easily 4-5mm of wood, it's a dangerous machine, you need a solid 400 volt 25 amp power supply.

Thanks for reading in the next post I will make a fence for the saw table soI'm able to saw a certain thickness.
