During our session on August 17, we learned about the fundamentals of Business Analytics, including sublessons such as data selection, filtering, sorting, and utilizing formulas for data manipulation and aggregation. These lessons were mainly discussed during the second semester of my second year, and some were applied during my internship days.
With these experiences, I can relate these concepts to real-life scenarios. Just like a business, with their inventory management, their sales data can be analyzed by selecting and filtering their products based on their popularity, sorting them according to their demand, and putting formulas where we can forecast sales. These skills help them make informed decisions as a data-driven person.
As I approach the world after college, which is the professional world for some. These skills are essential for me since I will work more with data, making my workload easier when given a task. During my internship days, where I was dealing with data about travelers at the Island Garden City of Samal, selecting, filtering, and sorting data, it was easier for me to find the specific number of foreign travelers for the year 2020 that had an overnight at Samal, by the way, this is just an example. Formulas helped me when I tried to forecast the number of visitor arrivals to the Philippines for the rest of this year (2023). Aggregation, when tasked to group the nationality of visitor arrivals here in the Philippines, helped me quickly understand patterns without looking at each data individually.
All in all, these lessons and skills will help me in making outputs that will serve as a factor for businesses in making data-driven decisions, which will help them share these results with stakeholders or to the people they'll be presenting these with, which the presentation is reliable as it came from a reliable source.
