Automation: The Key to Efficiency and Profitability
The discussions in the August 22 and 24 meetings were enlightening and refreshing. Automation, without a doubt, saves time and effort. It can minimize the required work required to complete a task, freeing up analysts to work on other projects.
Macros, for example, are a set of instructions that automate a sequence of tasks. They can be used to help businesses perform tasks without human error. In a manufacturing setting, macros can be used to track inventory levels, run production, or generate shipping orders. Stored procedures can be used to automate the creation of financial reports, market trend analysis, and future performance forecasting. Market trend analysis can help businesses maximize sales and profits, making it a long-term benefit. Businesses can use these two approaches to improve efficiency, reduce errors, and free analysts to focus on more complex projects. Regression is a statistical approach to explore or determine the relationship between two variables by drawing a straight line through a scatter plot. For instance, a trainer could use regression to see if there is a link between how often their clients work out and how much weight they lose. It is generally true that the more a person exercises, the more weight they will gradually lose.
Hypothesis testing was also discussed. It is an approach for testing a claim about a population parameter using sample evidence to confirm or reject a particular assertion. The four steps of hypothesis testing are as follows:
- State the null and alternative hypotheses.
- Determine the appropriate test statistic and critical value(s).
- Collect data and calculate the test statistic.
- Make a decision and interpret the results.
For instance, a pharmaceutical company might use hypothesis testing to compare the recovery rates of patients who received their new drug to those who received the old medication to determine if their new drug is effective in treating allergies. I have many more thoughts, but this will suffice for now.
