Spoiler alert: reading the paragraph below reveals the theme of these movies and the overall story for each. If you don't want to spoil the story, skip down to the list.
Over time I've stumbled across a genre of movies that I really like. It's kind of a "fish out of water" movie and it has elements of a "big fish in a small pond" movie. But, really, this genre is where a big fish gets out of the big pond, goes into a small pond where he doesn't fit in at all ("fish out of water"), but finds out that the small pond is really, really nice.
In this way, the "big fish out of big water" movies are like the Hallmark movies. They tend to have a formula, you pretty much know how it will end, but they're still sweet to watch.
My list, in no particular order:
Fisherman's Friends
Bank of Dave
The Englishman Who Went Up a Hill But Came Down a Mountain
Seducing Dr. Lewis
New in Town
Any I've missed?
