One of my fellow Hiveans (or is it Hiverians?) gave me advice that I needed to engage more frequently with the others here on the Hive writing platform. That was good advice, and it is so easy to do so in that you can post in the comments section of any article that you find on this platform, new or old. However, I cannot quite say the same about the HubPages writing platform.
Now, don't get me wrong. I have been a writer on the HubPages platform since 2016, and I find it very rewarding. If you're having thoughts about joining the HubPages platform, please do so. Your writing there will be well rewarded. However, keep in mind that recently the HubPages writing platform has disabled the comments section on a large number of the articles that appear there. Ouch!
When I first joined HubPages back in 2016, they only had one website where everything was published. That website was www.hubpages.com. Of course, each and every writer on that platform had their own HubPages channel. In any event, no matter where you surfed to on the HubPages writing platform, you could always post however many comments you wished to do so in the comments section of every article published on that platform.
Well, what HubPages has done recently is that they have copied most of the articles on that same platform from www.hubpages.com to www.discover.hubpages.com. In the present setup, for the most part, only the author can access and see their articles that are published on www.hubpages.com from their HubPages channel. However, the general public can view anyone's articles on www.discover.hubpages.com. The only problem is that nobody can post anything in the comments section of any article that appears on www.discover.hubpages.com. The author of the article itself can do so by accessing that same article on www.hubpages.com. However, anyone else is usually out of luck if they want to do so.
Now, there are some ways to get around this same debacle. If you're a follower of a writer on HubPages, you can usually post a comment in the comments section of their article by doing so from your HubPages channel's dashboard, because a notification of that same article's existence will appear there and will offer you the opportunity to post a comment.
Another way to get around that same debacle is to post in the comments section of an article immediately after it is published on www.hubpages.com. Before HubPages duplicates that same article on www.discover.hubpages.com, anyone can access it on www.hubpages.com. It usually takes a couple of days before HubPages duplicates a copy of that same article on www.discover.hubpages.com. Once you have posted in that article's comments section and the author of the article responds back to you, their comment will appear on your HubPages channel's dashboard and you will have the opportunity to post in that same article's comment section again and again even after the article gets duplicated on www.discover.hubpages.com and is no longer accessible to you in the www.hubpages.com format.
Another thing to keep in mind is that the Hubpages writing platform has not duplicated each and every article from www.hubpages.com to www.discover.hubpages.com. Therefore, any articles that are still in the www.hubpages.com format, you can still post in their comments section.
What I have explained above is probably a great amount of information to absorb at one time. I agree. Therefore, I feel that the HubPages writing platform should go ahead and make the comments section of each and every article available to people who find them in the www.discover.hubpages.com format. Their not doing so stifles the ability of Hubbers (writers on the HubPages platform) from engaging with one another. There are discussion threads on other parts of the platform. However, it is not the same as being able to post in the comments section of an article any time you wish no matter which article you have read. This setback hurts people's ability to make money on that same platform.
Nevertheless, one day HubPages will get it right. In the meantime, everyone on that writing platform has to deal with all the glitches that have ensued from the creation of the www.hubpages.discover.com format. I beg that the Hive blockchain never does anything like this to its writers. It would put a monkey wrench into everything that is the Hive writing platform.
