Huobi Global hosted its first ever APAC Prestige Investors Seminar
Huobi Group is the financial hub of digital assets. Huobi Group provides its users with reliable and secure digital asset trading and asset management services. They service millions of users worldwide and have surpassed 1.2 trillion dollars in accumulative turnover. Huobi offers two digital asset exchanges Huobi Global and Huobi NEXT. They also have country-specific exchanges, like fiat-to-crypto trading platform Huobi Australia, Huobi Korea and they have a strategic partnership with US-based asset exchange HBUS. Just recently they launched Huobi MENA, a digital asset exchange that is focused on servicing the underbanked/unbanked population of the Middle-East and North-Africa.
At the beginning of this year Huobi announced a global expansion plan which they have been deploying at an accelerated pace. Some of the most interesting features of the expansion plans include announcing the launch of their own exchange token, Huobi Token (HT), building their own blockchain (Huobi Chain) and creating a decentralized autonomous organization (DAO).
APAC prestige investors seminar
Huobi relocated their Singaporean headquarters to a new inspiring area. The prestigious Asia Center is the location of Huobi Global’s new HQ and focuses on being the central hub for quantitative, API and institution cryptocurrency trading in the Asia Pacific (APAC) region. The Asia Center is conveniently located in the Marina Bay district of Singapore which is the city’s business and financial hot spot. Huobi’s first ever exclusive prestige investors club seminar gave members a nice introduction at the company’s new HQ.
Many industry professionals and Huobi representatives attended the seminar. Over 100 quantitative traders were also at the event. Industry experts like Justin Chow, Head of Business Development at Cumberland, John Lin, CEO and founder of Tilde and Damien Loh, CIO of Ensemble Capital shared valuable insights and observations into the cryptocurrency market. During the event topics like the effect of artificial intelligence in cryptocurrency trading, quantitative trading opportunities and tail risk within cryptocurrency markets were addressed. There was also an interesting panel discussion on the macro outlook of the cryptocurrency market in 2019. Thought provoking discussions about market regulation, alternative cryptocurrency investing strategies and the hype surrounding ICOs were addressed.
Edward Chen, managing director of Huobi APAC stated ‘The cryptocurrency market is a fast-maturing one, as it occurs, more and more institutional investors will be seeking to participate in it’. Mr. Chen wants to attract more elite investors in the region as this will align closely with Huobi Global’s strategy.
Huobi Prestige Investors Club
During the investors club seminar, Huobi Global announced the launch of its exclusive, invite-only organization for quantitative, institutional and other elite level traders, called the prestige investors club.
The exclusive membership gives its elite members additional benefits that include dedicated account managers, high-quality engineering support for API trading and a selection of invitations to monthly roundtable discussions that focus on specific cryptocurrency topics.

Concluding remarks
The past few days we have seen a lot of volatility entering the market. It was something we hadn’t seen in a while. Unfortunately the market did not move in favor of cryptocurrency investors. It could be that the market needs more time to find a bottom in order to be able to move forward.
In the meantime, professional organizations that focus on digital assets continue to work on achieving mainstream adoption. As a writer on the topic of blockchain and cryptocurrencies I am seeing a lot of positive news indicating that institutions are slowly adopting blockchain technology.
What I like about Huobi is that they are continuing to expand. Every week they announce new products, exchanges or collaborations. The focus on informing and educating their customers is also a strong move from Huobi. Governmental cryptocurrency regulation is picking up steam globally. Scam ICO’s or non-compliant blockchain projects are being sued by legislators. These are all signs that the market is maturing, like Edward Chen, managing director of Huobi APAC previously mentioned. Huobi Group has been in business since 2013 and they went through a lot of crypto ups and downs. I see Huobi continuing to develop their business with a focus on their customers and I foresee a great future ahead.
