Countinghouse, despite delivering our investors market-beating returns for another year (see Figure 1) has noticed a stagnation of market-movement in the last twelve months. In keeping with our original goal of keeping up to date with emerging trends and new opportunities, Countinghouse has been eying the emergence and solidification of Crypto-Currencies and whether their unprecedented volume could be matched with reliability and stability when traded algorithmically. 2017 saw the once novel and relatively unknown market of Bitcoin and other crypto currencies become ever more popular, and in many cases are replacing fiat currencies in the realms of exchange as well as venture capital with Initial Coin Offering (ICO) becoming incredibly dominant as a method to raise funds for new business projects and proposals.

Over the year we have been testing our algorithmic methods developed for Foreign Exchange on the Crypto-Currency market, and the results, due to the Crypto-Currency market’s unprecedented volume and volatility, has been remarkable. While the traders at Countinghouse have looked closely at Crypto-Currency for the last ten years, the recent couple of years has prompted us to take very seriously the notion of updating our portfolio to include Crypto-Currency. 2018 will be that year.
