We often say how the IT is the signature industry of Armenia. But what project can the government of the country point out? The Minister of Transport, Communications and IT Ashot Akopyan believes that one of the main accomplishments of 2018 in IT can truly be the project to create a National Venture Fund.
This project is aimed at, among many others, to create a favourable investment environment in Armenia and launch new programs. Its realization, as the Minister believes, will bring foreign capital.
"We want Armenia to become the center for start-ups and innovation" said Mr. Akopyan, adding that the venture funds currently operating in the country only invest into projects on their early stages, while the National Venture Fund will support projects in several phases, allowing to increase the funding for certain projects up to millions.
As part of ECOS, start-ups will also be able to receive support on various stages of development. With its help entrepreneurs will be able to put together a team and revive the necessary knowledge, get into a pre-accelerator and accelerator to perfect their project and put the product onto the market.
