It´s very important to know what coins have a potential to become big and which not. Sure, u can´t know what Coins will be scam but there are some points you have to look at to decide where you put your money into.
1. Concept
The importants parts is the Concept. A concept to be innovative and can provide added value. This is very important, only a Concept that is unique have the potential to jump in to the sky.
2. Team
Behind every Idea have to stand a strong Team. This team should be good combinated with great developers and marketing experts. If this project is serious there are Users on it that since a few years on Bitcointalk and not just "Newbies".
3. Marketing & Dev. Plan
A well written marketingplan and good developing concept for the future steps are very important. That shows you that the team is thinking about future steps and have the right ideas and thinking to bring this "Coin" forward.
4. Logo/ Design
Even on this early Steps you see how important the team take marketing, if they are not able to show any CI or Concept Designs - forget them. Why? Even when they are great developers .. if they at this time dont know what is important to stay in people minds.. they dont will it understand in the future.
5. Vision
The most important Part of all, the team need a great vision where they want to stay in the future. They have to know their way and ideas how to get there!
These are some points that are really important for me if i invest in an ICO.
