Thinking out of the box
Sometimes if we need a breakthrough on something we need to comeup with a really crazy idea.
Since i was i kid, im always facinated with science. I have this crazy idea when i was in 2nd year highschool. I was about 12years old that time.
Its was for our investigatory project, our biology teacher asked us to come up with an idea thats was never written or created in the field of science.
If you think of it, what would a 12 year old student can comeup of as a topic in an investigatory project.
We were ask to draft a title and the application. I did mine and submitted like the others. Few days later, i was called by the principal's office because they wanted to talk to me about what i wrote in a piece of paper.
Crazy as it may sound, it did made our biology teacher and the nuns (christian school) argue over my work.
My topic was "smoking a cure for cough". My bio teacher was very supportive with my topic, because it could be a medical break through with the right research and experimentation.
Using the leaves of "plumeria" as a cigarette this was the main topic of my research.
But the school's management (the nuns, i was in a christian school) was totally against it, because it will promote smoking to younger generations.
Well sadly, my topic got disapproved. So, i need to come up with another topic.
My motivation for that idea. I was suffering asthma from early childhood. Growing up asthmatic, dependent on medicines, and i cant even play outside without carrying my meds.
I suffered asthma attacks till i reached about 21 years old. Time passed by. I kept on searching the internet looking if someone also made this crazy idea to reality, about smoking is the cure to cough, but none.
The last meds that i took was symbicort, and it was expensive.
It was a few weeks after i got hired in my first job, i had my last asthma attack happened. I was to desperate, and i badly need that job and i cant let my asthma ruin it.
I took triple dose plus 3 tabs of whatever-medicine-left for my asthma (very stupid move) i got dizzy and it knocked me out for 1 day, woke up groggy and the whole room was spinning but sadly the asthma was still there.
-the next part is the Dont do this at home part.
There was a release of new variation of marlboro black (menthol) flavor, including a metal lighter. Remembering my highschool investigatory project, i did bought 1 pack of cigarette. My mind set was its now or never.
First few puffs were i felt my lungs are crushing from the inside, but i continued.
After a stick, ive never felt that relieved also.
Like everything is very clear when i breath
.no hissing. No nothing. I was enjoying breathing for the first time.
I told myself, I was right! (I have no scientific proof yet), but that was the end of my asthma. Its been 13years already i didnt have asthma attack.
But then again, dont do this at home. It could be deadly.
-my teacher asked me before "can you prove it?"
-my answer "if we have the tools then i will prove it"
-"do you have a test subject?"
Well "me" im going to be my own test subject.
-it made me think, if i have the right tools and support from the school and government.
I could put a dot on the worlds most common sickness. Cough or in my case asthma.
I hope if anyone who is in the medicine field, you might want to check this crazy idea
