Sujat Bukhari, editor of 'Rising Kashmir' newspaper in Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir, was shot dead outside his office. The exact reason behind the attack was that, it is not known initially. However, he was given police protection since 2000, in fear of the attack.
According to Indian media reports, Sujat and his bodyguard, Chief Editor of Rising Kashmir, were shot outside outside his office in Srinagar local time on Thursday evening. A local newspaper said that several bullets were hit on the head and stomach of journalist and editor Sujith Bukhari.
