I hear a lot of talk about "making America great again" and them wanting to be the "best country in the world".
Well electing a bloke with the worst comb over of all time, who is a reality TV star is probably not a good start (joke).
On a serious note however, what is it that makes a country great? I get the feeling many Americans would talk about a strong economy and military power. Perhaps their 2nd amendment rights or specifically the right to bear arms ...
Well here is what I consider makes a country great:
- Free medical care
- Free education
- Compassion for others at home or abroad
- Helping the homeless and veterans
- Looking after and respecting the elderly
- Embracing your cultural diversity
- Tolerance of all races and regions
- Peace keeping
- Lack of corruption
- Giving people a fair trial
- Responsible environmental policies
And I could go on. Wonder what those in power would think of my list? It is not about electing just the right candidate, but rather electing the right group of people who share the morals and beliefs of many.
Note: I am not American and hold no ill feeling towards them specifically. They are an interesting use case however.
