I was searching around ebay for mining rigs the other day and came across a listing that really caught my eye. It wasn't for a miner, but for a miner muffler that was obviously 3D printed. Dude was charging like $35 for it and had buyers, but you know me and having 5 3D printers, I am not buying something I can make.
So the search moved from eBay to Thingiverse and Printables where I usually find the files for designs I want to print, but couldn't find what I was looking for. I ended up going to Yeggi which is an aggregate for all of the 3D print file databases and I found the exact design I was looking for! I did have to pay for the files, which was way cheaper than purchasing the item itself and only cost me a couple of dollars in filament.
These files are for miners with 120mm fans, which are standard fans for the bigger ASIC miners like the Bitmain Antminer L3+, S9, and others. You could probably use it with the bigger double sized miners if you had one and wanted to try. I printed these up thinking I was going to be getting a Bitmain L3+ LTC/DOGE miner, but I may not. Even if I don't, it was a fun experiment.
The front two pieces were done in separate prints. The smaller print is basically the cover of the muffler that has several holes to allow ample airflow into the miner.
The second part is the main muffler piece. It has 2 main sections. The outer wall is really thick while the inner wall has holes like the cap part all the way through to allow the airflow, but at the same time quieting the flow, like the muffler on a car.
For the back piece, I found 2 different designs. The designs looked to accomplish the same goal, but they have different builds altogether. This one is a shorter, more simpler design that you would use if you are going to be using an exhaust duct to direct the hot air from the miner out to a vent.
The other design was a bit more lengthy and looked like exhaust pipes coming out of the back of the Batmobile, lol. It's a cool design and looks like it would help cool and help muffle the fans, but it's not what you would use if you were wanting to use ducting.
So all in all, it was a fun project to play with. I am considering putting the files up on the Hivelist store to sell for HBD, or other cryptocurrencies. Which by the way is going to be a big push for Hivelist going forward. I have found that instead of selling the pieces, I have done better selling the design files in bundles, not for this, but for other 3D print designs. So I am going to give it a shot here!
And I guess, now that I have these all printed up, I need to get an ASIC miner to use them with like the Bitmain L3+... Who knows... I am liking this new Goldshell miner I have and kind of want to keep stacking them as they are WAY more profitable, but cost more... Oh decisions, decisions, lol.
