Life keeps confirming that my hopes, plans, and intentions should be kept silent until the very day when they are put into noticeable, observable action. And even then it’s not about words; no much need to speak of what is being done when the action itself reveals the doing.
Why is that so?
I believe it has to do with two things. First, the regular human brain likes to be rewarded. Once you tell a bunch of people about all the great ideas that you wish to bring into reality, this might trick the brain into feeling satisfied with simply imagining them happen. This is how most computer games work after all — you play something like FarmVille and get “achievements” that are nothing but pixels on the screen, yet it feels like you’ve built a real life empire! The reward feeling is the same as if it happened for real.
It’s a very common occurrence for people to talk about something for ages, but never actually get to it. “I’m going to paint this and that... I’d like to publish a book... I really want to learn Japanese... I’ve been longing forever to practice yoga...” Talk is a waste of energy that could be put into action. Next time, before “I want to learn Japanese” escapes your lips, grab your phone and Google three essential Japanese words for beginners... repeat them 5 times each... and do it every time when “I’d love to learn Japanese” is about to be blurted out.
The second issue with saying too much to others is this: when your hopes and plans are revealed to a bunch of people — even those you trust and consider to be your family and friends — their own thoughts and intentions can tamper with your actions. This second park might sound a bit “unscientific” and too “esoteric”, to which I will note that I am neither an occultist nor a scientist, yet both perspectives make perfect sense. It’s all about energy, be it waves, fields, particles, or whatever else that exists out here... and what are our thoughts and intentions after all?
I do believe that plans and goals should be shared (at least initially) only with those who are deeply involved. It might be a partner who will participate in achieving them and who is on the same page with you, or it could be a loved one whose participation and approval is absolutely crucial. Otherwise... Don’t rush to tell the whole world. The world will see the progress once it’s visible. It will see the results when they come into reality.
