Even though this is very heavily focused on the US and al the Chinese internet giants are left out this does paint a useful picture.

While in the beginning everything was new and only a few of the original companies of 1998 are still there we can see that a lot of the Old School companies are popping up in the list now. They are taking their massive financial power and are adapting to the times even if the reaction is not always instantaneous.

Will blockchain change this?

The big question now is what effect will Blockchain and Cryptocurrencies have on this ever changing landscape. Will the old giants drop a bit in the ranking to make room for new companies only to over take them a decade later??

Only time will tell but I do feel that there are big changes coming. Not only due to the heightened chance of an upcoming recession but also due to the new technologies that are on the cusp of breaking out and changing the world as we know it...
