An apology to Hivers/Hiveians for late self-introduction to the community!
Five months ago, when I published my first post on Hive, which is about the story of my first win using Sand Worm, I had no idea how this platform works. I never thought that whatever you published here will remain permanent. At that time, I was advised by @fionasfavourites (@lovesniper) to create an introduction post. I think about a week after, I made my self-introduction revising previous posts from both blogger and reddit just to comply with the request.
Though it appears to be too late, I consider it now to properly introduce myself to this awesome community. I have been planning to redo my introduction for quite some time, but somehow, my situation prevented me. In this post, I just want to share myself and my family, what I have been doing, my current interests, and my plans on Hive.
Who Am I?
My name is Ruel Z. Chavez and I am from the Philippines. I was born in Oton, Iloilo, but I am now residing in Dasmarinas, Cavite. My user name – rzc24-nftbbg is taken from my full name, my birthday plus the initial letters of non-fungible token blockchain based game. I came to know Hive last August 2021 through Splinterlands. I am married with three sons and I am a faculty member of PTS College & Advanced Studies.
These are my sons when they were still young. This photo was taken in 2004. As for me, this photo captured what I consider to be the happiest moment in my life.
My sons with their mom after 8 years. This picture was taken in 2012 during my first year in South Korea.
Four years after. This picture was taken in 2016, few months prior to my decision to return to the country.
This picture was taken in 2013 inside a cafeteria in Gwacheon City, Gyeonggido province, South Korea.
Another memorable picture taken in a public park near Gwacheon City. It’s good that the monster has just eaten his lunch. If not, I will not be courageous enough to have him as my background.
A Filipino version of Jumong. Taken in 2014 when one missionary invited us to visit a historical site.
With my co-workers during our field trip in Jeju Island. The background is the world’s smallest church taken in 2015.
Also, at Jeju Island. I never expected that I would survive riding this Viking.
With my friend. Prior to my return to the Philippines, our Senior Pastor, gave us a three-day vacation. This photo was taken in 2016. We stayed in a hotel in Samcheok City, Gangwon-do, South Korea.
Same place, same location, but the picture was taken in the morning.
What I Have Been Doing?
Teaching is my primary source to provide for my family’s livelihood. I am the current Academic Dean of our educational institution. Moreover, I have been into financial literacy since 2009 and into stock trading since 2015. I have basic knowledge of both fundamental and technical analyses. As for crypto currency, I took it for granted for so long. It was only just July last year that I was able to connect the dots and saw the opportunity offered by the convergence, of finance, technology, and NFT blockchain based game. After several months of listening to top influencers here on Hive, I am now starting to realize the power of Hive with its vision of freedom through community ownership, censorship-resistance and decentralization.
My Current Interests and My Plan on Hive
Entering the crypto space is like entering a different world. I consider both blockchain technology and cryptocurrency as interesting subjects to integrate into financial literacy. My interests now in crypto are focused on DeFi, NFTs and parachains. My plan here on Hive is to share my journey on Splinterlands, to write articles and book reviews on crypto related literature, and to track my growth in token accumulation as part of retirement plan. God willing, I now only have 5 to 10 years to accomplish this. If my sons would be finished in their schooling as early as possible and they would start working, I think I can speed up my plan.
Grace and peace!
