Hi there, I first joined the Steem blockchain in January of 2018. I stuck around for a few months and shared my photography from adventures that I would take on my weekends with my partner, @heyalexa. I met some rad people and was presented with some unique opportunities. Are you familiar with @goldmatters? He provided the opportunity to photograph a beautiful piece of Menē!
During this same time, I also watched the price of Steem tank and wasn't really making much of anything. I searched around for other platforms for a bit because I enjoy blogging, sharing stories, and meeting other rad people from different communities. I wanted a place to hang out online where I felt inspired by others while contributing to the platform. Then I just kinda disappeared one day. A few months go by and I receive an email from @daveks asking me where I've been and requested that I come back to Steem or try out other platforms. He's always been a huge supporter of mine and I have always greatly appreciated it. Please check out his page, follow his work, and show some love! I was rather confused when the Steem/Hive split happened because I had been out of the loop for so long and he took the time to explain to me what had happened. The dude is just a good dude and we need more good dudes in this world. We cannot abandon the thought of good people existing. Speaking of abandoned.. check this place out!
Unfortunately, this place burnt to the ground a week after taking this photo. Also, I'm not 100% sure, but I believe the bright part of the sky near the center of the image is our closest neighbor in terms of galaxies. If I am correct, it is the Andromeda Galaxy which is on course to collide with the Milky Way Galaxy in about 4.5 billion years.
So again, I put blogging on hold and was about to leave for good when SteemMonsters (now known as @splinterlands) was announced and I became involved in that. I was hanging out in discord, contributing to ideas, and speculating the future with the others who were around during the release of Alpha. I kept trading cards on the markets and played the game when it was released and I continue to play today although I'm no longer active in the discord.

Life changed in ways that were out my control and I no longer had the freedom on the weekends that I once used to. With how my brain works, I refused to focus on the negatives and began searching for light in the situation. I've always been decent with using computers, but this is when I began to crave an understanding of how they work and not just the ability to operate the machine. I started reading... and haven't stopped. I started with the fundamentals and shortly became interested in the network/security side of things. I started teaching myself Python programming and this is when I became absolutely hooked!
So who am I? My name is Thatcher, and I'm an individual who spends a lot of time thinking about why I exist or humanity in general. I keep my focus optimistic and really care about the planet we live on. If I had things my way, every human would find something to be passionate about and remain kind. Idk man, I still have so much to figure out when it comes to who I am. I have an idea, but maybe that's all I am.
