Hello my fellow Steemians,
this blog started out as a little pet project for my wife, as she wanted an opportunity to write and express herself, to bridge the gap in her professional career. But as it turned out that gap was rather short and she had lesser time to actually keep this blog active. So I took it basically over not so long ago, hence I would like to write a new introduction since my interests are obviously a little different.
In this short introduction I would like to talk a little bit about my love for Asia, especially southeast Asia, my profession and how it actually brought me to Asia in the first place. So let's go back in time a little bit, when there where no smartphones, no iPad, and the internet was still being seen as something for nerds. Yep i know it's a long time ago, but we are young at heart.
It was 1996 when I had a chance to travel to Malaysia for the first time and I have to admit, it was love at first sight. I was touched by the friendliness of the people, the breathtaking beauty of nature, overwhelmed by the sheer endless varieties of food and just felt that I could stay and live here for some time. All I needed was an opportunity. A little hint is below
Work, yes of course. Not long after I returned home from my holiday trip, my company was looking for a young, energetic, handsome site engineer to support a project team in Malaysia. Hallelujah, this was my chance. I put my name forward without hesitation and got lucky. About 2 weeks later I was in a plane an route to Kuala Lumpur. After settling in professionally, I started to explore Kuala Lumpur and Malaysia whenever time permitted. I explored the local cuisine with all its different flavours and varieties, from
Malay "Nasi Lemak" https://goo.gl/images/5tfJl8
Chinese "Wonton noodles" https://goo.gl/images/xzkuX8
to Indian "Roti Canai" https://goo.gl/images/4MTmk2
and many more.
Sadly after 1 year my assignment was completed and I had to return home. But the stars where lucky and after about 3 years I got another opportunity to work in Malaysia once more and needless to say that I jumped on board again. And what a journey it would be over the next 18 years.
Anyways, I want to use this blog to shed a little bit more light on my profession, my daily routines at work, introduce previous and current projects. Once in a while I might want to introduce local food or interesting places. Lots of things to do and explore.
That's it for now, I would be happy for your comments and upvotes.
Thank you.
