Hello and Welcome to Banterwords!
I am a words person. Always have been, always will be. I loved words from the moment I first started reading as a child. Back then words were the key to hidden dimensions that lay dormant in books and tall tales my grandmother used to recite. Though I grew out of fairy tales, those stories taught me that words are powerful creators. They can make your heart soar the same way they can eviscerate you in the blink of an eye. Each word, no matter how pedestrian, is a magic incantation. One kind word can unearth a long-buried smile just as a sharp barb can impale an ego.
Most people never fully grasp the beauty of words beyond their mere precision. They don’t see their many hues, their varied shapes, their unique personalities. In our busy lives, we don’t make time for beautiful words anymore. We reach for the most utilitarian, the most commonly used, the lowest hanging fruit of words-completely ignoring the treasure trove of words that is ours for the taking. Underutilizing the English language is akin to owning a Ferrari that you only use to pick up groceries at the corner mart.
The careless use of words is not just an aesthetic tragedy; it is also at the core of much of interpersonal strife. Without words, we lack the ability to express our innermost selves to others. If a well-chosen word is a bridge, then the words most people choose are like dental floss: flimsy, insubstantial, and ultimately disposable. Our inability to find the right words is, in my estimation, of the greatest barriers to connection with others, the universe and to our own humanity.
I feel that my calling in life is to help people find the right words to express themselves. My aim is to utilize my verbal acuity to help people discover themselves and connect with their inner purpose, their vision, and with the world around them.
In joining the Steemit community, I hope to offer my thoughts on a variety of subjects to do with personal growth and interpersonal communication. I hope to share the lessons that I have learned about self-discovery and living authentically. I am inspired to do so due to the nature of this unique community. I am intrigued by Steemit’s raison-d’etre. In sharing my writing and supporting the work of fellow bloggers, I hope to cultivate a thriving, independently minded, intellectual readership with whom I can grow and develop as a person and as a writer.
A lot of folks go into a lot of detail about their personal histories in their self-introductions and if you’ve gotten this far, you are probably exasperated with me because I haven’t revealed much about myself in terms of demographic factors. It is not that I am shy or intentionally evasive; rather, I think it will be far more fun to reveal aspects of myself over time.
Also, it might be a fun game for readers to guess things about me in the comments. Am I a man or a woman? How old do you think I am? Where might I be from? What’s my job? My plan is to reveal more and more about myself over time. For the time being, I look forward to your guesses.
Thank you for reading and until next time.
