Well hello there fellow Steem users!
Like so many users here, I prefer to keep some form of anonymity.
But I can tell you about myself a little.
Born and bread in South Africa, I grew up in Johannesburg and attended an Art school in the late 80’s where I graduated with Graphic art and Photography as two of my main subjects.
Like many South Africans at that stage, I had to do a two year compulsory military stint after which I studied Film- and Video-technology at an institution in Pretoria.
A very unexciting and unfulfilling career followed in the media industry -until I discovered bitcoin and cryptocurrency about 4 years ago. The rest is history as they say.
While I’m not a programmer of any sorts, I have spent the past few years teaching and educating as many people as I can about this revolution in currency and have created at first, a WhatsApp group where we share ideas and teach new and interested parties. The group has actually expanded so much, that we have moved to Telegram to accommodate everyone. Ironically, I find myself having to spend an inordinate amount of time having to teach people not so much about bitcoin or crypto, as I have to explain fiat. It still surprises me every day how many people think that their ‘legal tender’ are backed by anything. Or ‘guaranteed’ by the bank…
Having grown up in Africa, and more specifically in South Africa, I have found that there’s literally two camps regarding cryptocurrency. The one half has no clue about even the basics of economics and get scammed over and over by all the ponzi’s that are so prevalent in this part of the world. The other half has been so indoctrinated by their so-called academic knowledge, that you can literally stand on your head in an effort to try and re-educate them without any results.
It’s ok. More and more of my friends and acquaintances are coming around to this amazing technology and the impact that it will, and already have on the world around us. Living in Africa where poverty is all around us every day, and where stories about failing economies and corruption are a daily occurrence, the time has come for crypto to flourish!
My main source of income is from mining crypto thru reputable cloud-mining sources, and although the topic can at times be contentious, I am living proof that it does work.
Here’s to starting this journey on Steemit. Pleased to meet you!
