Hello Steemit!
It's a real pleasure to finally be able to meet you all! The 10 day wait for account activation had me picturing FBI style de-brief rooms plastered in pictures of my life, with dozens of sleep deprived, sunglass-toting agents buzzing about uncovering my deepest and darkest secrets. I didn't kill him, don't check the canal.
Anyway! My name is Callum, and that is actually real-life Welsh in the title there. I wonder if that's a steemit first? Who knows. It would be a bit of a shame if it were, as my grasp of my native language is shockingly bad for a man who endured 16 years of schooling in the subject - Although, the combination of crossword puzzles and disinterested middle-aged teachers didn't exactly cultivate the ideal learning environment.
What was I talking about? Callum. Callum is my name. Here is my face:
Any fans of South Park will recognise the weed-addled face of the towel character draping me on this particular occasion. It was Halloween, I don't wear that everyday. Just some days. Most days. Right now. Only kidding, exclusively during sex. Also if this is of any use to anyone, it's a great costume to knock up in about 20 minutes if you're ever in a pinch! Blue towels, staple gun, draft excluder tape and some cardboard/paper/pens and you've got yourself a self-aware towel persona for the night. Good fun.
So I guess like many of us, I found this platform as a result of the crypto-rabbit hole I found myself getting lost down at the beginning of last year, any excuse to meet new people is always a wonderful thing I think!
My father lives in China, and my other-half's spirit-food is the Dumpling, so we spend as much time as we can visiting him. It is an astonishingly beautiful country, with such welcoming people (as are all of the Asian cultures I've had the pleasure to visit). Here's a picture of us making the most of Tokyo's fantastic array of headwear:
My day-to-day life however revolves around Mental Health. Specifically, assisting people suffering from debilitating mental illnesses such as Schizophrenia & Bipolar disorder to develop and maintain independence. Days vary between implementing therapeutic programs, meeting with social workers and/or other healthcare professionals, assisting tenants with generally getting things such as bank accounts together, or going to the cinema (An underrated therapeutic practice, I think). So yes, I love my work! And am always looking to learn and develop, both personally and professionally. So I think that's what I'll be writing about for the most-part :)
Okie dokie, well I guess that's about as much rambling as any sane person could wade through! Thank you for reading, and please give me a follow or drop a message, I'm new to this world and currently very much alone on my little steemy island.
Have a wonderful day all, speak to you soon !
