My names Anthony Sostre, but I also go by CapnSostre or just Capn online. My son's napping behind me, so I'm gonna try to dive right in an get this done before he wakes up. I'll start with who I am:
Who I Am
- 21 years old (born April 17, 1996)
- 'Murican
- Married with One Kid (So far)
- Self-Employed (Marketing)
- I live stream/release gaming videos
- Christian
- Sort of believe in pacifism. (Would love to talk about it.)
- I speak English
What I Love
- My wife and son
- Bacon, steak, turkey legs, chicken wings, goat balls.... come to think of it, any kind of meat.
- Almost all games. Indie, RTS, FPS, you name it.
- Playing Piano, I actually went to college for classical piano performance. But, as I always half-jokingly say, what's the difference between a large pizza and a pianist? The pizza can feed a family of 4.
- Music in general. I like all genres. Seriously, give me a suggestion and I'll take a listen to it.
- Cars and Racing. I used to street race and do local autocross events. I no longer own a car though.
- Making new friends.
Why I Joined Steemit
So, I joined Steemit for a couple of reasons, but it boils down to two main things:
- I've been searching for a better social media network for a while, with no luck.
- I don't think YouTube is the best place for my gaming channel/live streams.
I'll start by addressing my search for a better social media network. As a marketer, I know firsthand just how much info the big social sites have on you, and while in general, I'm a very open person, I just don't like the idea of a single organization selling my info for profit. It just always ends up feeling like the platform, at a certain point is created for profit, not to be a quality social network. There's a lot of talks here on Steem about everyone making a quality social network, and it seems like I'll really enjoy it here.
Then, as a content creator/live streamer, I'm not big enough that I've lost money to the adpocalypse or anything like that, but I have created over 360 streams/videos and have a small, but important (to me) following of close to 1,000. Lately, I've been fearing more and more that my channel just isn't secure on YouTube. I heard about DTube and Steemit and instantly thought it'd be a better place to grow my community. I think there's a much more promising future here and I won't have to worry about many of the headaches with YouTube.
What I Plan to Contribute
So, I'm here now, and I have some plans, but really I'm just gonna feel things out. First and foremost I'm just gonna use Steem to consume content from others, upvote what I like, and share life related things.
Then, I plan to also use steem for professional stuff. I'll probably share the occassional marketing or business related post and also read this type of content too.
Lastly, I'll be using Steemit/DTube for my gaming community. Posting gaming related videos and trying to get my followers to move over here. I really think this will be a great place for content creators and their audiences alike and would love to help it grow in anyway I can.
I've already told friends and family to check it out and join, and I plan to include an announcement in my livestream on YouTube tonight.
