I am one of those musicians that was slurped up by Steemit from Facebook ... sort of.
Let me introduce myself and explain. My name is Deeann, and I am a composer-arranger, pianist, singer, and author (assisting other musicians with copyright issues) doing her thing in San Francisco. I compose and perform across a number of styles, but one of my great passions is the Negro Spiritual. My grandmother introduced me to Spirituals as a way to explain the entire world in which I as a Black girl and woman would grow up. I miss her, but now I am the singer and arranger, so the legacy continues.
Anyhow, I ended up here because I was hunting for information on Facebook about a singer I would like to arrange some Negro Spirituals for, but Facebook failed me, so on I went to Google. Someone had posted a YouTube of this excellent baritone on Steemit, and that is where I picked up the trail ... and then got more interested in Steemit than the hunt for this musician.
Of course I did track the musician down. I hate loose ends. So much so that on signing up here I read the terms of service here AND the associated arbitration materials. That's just me, and that is also why I decided to go on and sign up. I got a real sense of "for real for real" from researching until midnight about what Steemit is and what its potential is both in terms of cryptocurrency and the potential for musicians to make a living in a way that does NOT require the perils of the industry. I am an author on that subject; the industry path is VERY treacherous and not for those uninterested in treachery!
I have been a musician for 26 years and interested in crypto for about two years; everything came together when I learned of Steemit. Steemit also will help me with something else in my busy life: I am prolific in creating, but NOT in putting work forth. My friends are astonished at the amount of manuscripts and music I generate, and my mentors chide me for not paying as much attention to sharing the work. As of this day, I have removed the last excuse for all that.
Oh, while running around in my OTHER jobs, I also do some amateur photography, much of which you will also get to see:
Big thank you to @jessamynorchard for the fantastic walkthrough on how to get started!
