Greetings Hive I am Enjar a game content creator. I have migrated over from Steem in hopes of finding a new home that provides the decentralization and safety for my content and me. I like to be able to swear, speak my mind about a game, and not have to worry about getting censored for my views or which platforms those games are from. Outside of that, I’m just looking to play some fun games, meet new people, and make my own game along the way.
Gaming

I have played so many games over the years I’ve lost track of how many I have even played let alone the number of hours playing them. Gaming has become quite a passion in my life as far as hobbies go. There is that thrill of starring in a new world, having to learn new tricks and rules, and finding a way to progress forward.
When I was quite young I was really into Might and Magic VI. I’ve lucked out over the years and managed to get a Steam version of this game and even wrote about it— My Favorite Video Game From Childhood. Which you can’t even buy anymore it just happened to be bundled with another purchase I made a while ago.
I use to rush home every day from school and just get lost in its world. I loved running dungeons, opening chests, and slaying goblins. As a kid, I spent way too much in the first two zones of the game going back and forth resetting them so I could far all the monster over again.
As far as other Might and Magic games go I was not a huge fan. They were more turned based than I was accustomed to playing with VI being my first introduction into the series. I even tried playing Legacy several years back and it still did not live up to what I fell in love with VI.
After that, I played a lot of StarCraft and really anything that was RPG with a medieval feel to it. I love hack and slash gameplay with a big pile of loot at the end of it. RPGs is something I’ve played a lot of over the years even these days with Path of Exile being something I use to write about a lot.
Then there was a time where I got heavily involved with the MMO scene. These days I tend to stay away from them with how time-consuming they end up being. As someone busy all the time with different stuff I can no longer commit huge amounts of my daily schedule every night to go out raiding, grouping, and just having fun.
My first MMO was Everquest. Many people around me back then use to call it EverCrack and it was quite fitting for kids growing up at that time as we played that game as much as we could it might as well been called that. I ended up being in the top raiding guild on the server I was on at the time. I even made a bit of a name for myself. Those days are however long past me and are just nostalgia these days.

After that, I got really into Eve Online. In fact, Enjar was one of the many names I went by. It was always a bit of a play on words. I’m horrible at naming things and I’m usually spelling things so shits in chat people think I’m drunk. So naturally as I was staring there at a blank screen to put a name in I came up with English Jar. You take a jar and fill it with some vodka. Toss in the English language and give it a good shake. Outcomes an Enjar. I thought it was clever those who have it as a real name not so much.
Beyond that, I have one final game that has had a significant impact on me as a gamer. It is only something recently I’ve given up playing for good for now at least. I have thousands of hours played and thankfully since all our content has moved over from the fork. My very large collection of Path of Exile content can be found in my RPG index.
Game Development

You get to a point in time where you get tired of playing, reviewing, and writing content about gaming. You want to create your own. As an “indie solo game developer” if I could even call myself that without an actual game release under my belt as of yet. I have stepped down that path of trying to create a dungeon crawler 3D game. I’m also a noob when it comes to programming as well as if the challenge needed to be harder.
It is something that I am expecting to take me many years. It’s also something I thought would be interesting to share the journey of going about making it. I usually try and aim for an update post at least every couple of weeks. Most weeks I’m just tossing whatever extra few hours I can at learning something new, implementing it, working out what I did wrong, and attempting to do it again. There is also a lot of repetition in game development to build things out to a grand scale. As such I have lots to write about regarding my experience and other times I’ve been doing the same thing for weeks with only so much to say. One example is me working out how to build a data table for items.
In the end, the game I’m working is going to be quite an adventure. I suspect it will take longer than I expect to finish it if I ever do. Cost more than I was hoping to create it. Along with causing me an endless headache as I try and stumble my way forward. I would not have it any other way as that is just life.
Outside Of Gaming

Despite what some people might think. Gaming is not the only thing in my life. I do enjoy quite an array of other topics. I really love bonfires and a good S’more here or there. Growing my own garden in the summer if I can find the time. I might also like cats enough to have my profile picture as one!
While I do enjoy things like math and science I never got far enough in life to where I wanted to be. Sometimes it’s fun to jump into and learn new things going on in those fields. Other times they just go way over my head. I’m also blessed to watch SpaceX launch their missions with the fireball of a trail they leave being visible where I am.
After a busy week if I can find the time I love having a bonfire. For me they are rather relaxing and just a way to unwind. Most of the time I’m having a S’more or even cooking some hotdogs for dinner as well. The best kind of S’more is fudge striped shortbread cooks with a marshmallow in the middle. I think the “classic” S’more is a bit overrated. Some people I know would say those are fighting words
Over the past two years, I’ve taken a liking to grow my own food and herbs. I am hoping this summer once I get some supplies to be sharing my triumphs and struggles with that. Most years I have some successes and then I’m battling some invasion of whiteflies or something else trying to destroy my small garden out of planter pots.
You might also notice I love cats! I have been a little while without having my own. It is still a void in my heart that I hope to one day fill again. It won’t be this year with how things are going but I’m hoping soon enough I’ll be dropping cat photos on twitter over the weekends next year.
Final Thoughts

I thought now was the perfect time to reintroduce myself as it has been several years. A new platform and many of the old people I met when I was first starting out in this space are long gone. As such this just felt like a natural starting point for this new chapter in my life called Hive.
I’m looking forward to creating lots of gaming content in the future. From blockchain games to RPGs and anything else that catches my eye. With a dash of stuff in real life like my garden from time to time.
Long live Hive!
