Hola Steemit, mi nombre es Johel Arteaga, tengo afro y soy estudiante de química, además de ser músico, y me emociona ser parte de esta nueva comunidad.
Hello Steemit! My name is Johel Arteaga and I have an Afro, also I’m a Chemistry student and a musician, I’m very excited of been part of this community.
Actualmente estoy cursando la parte final de la carrera de licenciatura en química en la Universidad Simón Bolívar, donde busco especializarme en la química cuántica y computacional, para de esta manera poder entender a un nivel general todo lo que me rodea. De esta manera, encontrar la forma de hacerlo todo mucho más fácil para aquellos que buscan reacciones químicas que cambien el mundo.
Currently I’m finishing my studies in Chemistry in the Simon Bolivar University, where I’m looking to get an specialization in quantic and computational chemistry, so that I can understand in a more general level everything around me. This way, I’ll find a way to make everything easier for those looking for chemical reactions to save the world

A la vez soy músico, toco la flauta desde hace 12 años y me encanta encontrar ritmos nuevos que aprender, líneas melódicas con las que experimentar, pero sobre todo músicos nuevos con los que divertirme. Además, toco otros instrumentos, como la guitarra, el cuatro, el bajo, y sobre todo la percusión ligera, que me permite expresar todo lo que siento de una manera que me es bastante
At the same time I’m a musician. I’ve played the flute for the last 12 years and I love finding new rhythms to learn, melody structures to experiment with and, most of all, new musicians to have fun with. Also, I play other instruments like the guitar, the cuatro, the bass and specially the light percussions, which lets me express everything I feel in a pretty natural way.
Actualmente soy parte de la secretaría de cultura de la FCEUSB, donde busco lograr hacer eventos que involucren a todos mis compañeros, y que todos logren encontrar una manera de explorarse a si mismos, y al mundo del arte que es simplemente infinito.
I’m currently part of the culture secretary in the FCEUSB, where I’m trying to make events that involve all my companions, so that everyone might find a way to explore themselves, and the world of arts, which is simply infinite.
En el 2013 (Cuando no tenía afro) representé a mi país en Moscú y La Paz en las Olimpiadas Internacionales e Iberoaméricanas de química, respectivamente, donde conseguí una medalla de plata en Bolivia, y que me permitió ampliar mi amor hacia la química, y hacia las comunidades globales, permitiéndome conocer muchísimas personas de varios lugares del mundo, que amplió mi visión de la humanidad, y de todos sus matices.
In 2013 (when I had no afro), I represented my country in Moscu and La Paz in the international and iberoamerican chemistry olympiad, respectively, where I got silver in Bolivia. This let me further my love for chemistry and other global communities, I also met a lot of people from many places in the world and it furthered the vision I had in humanity in all its nuances.
Podrán preguntarse “¿Por qué tienes afro?” y si es el caso yo les contestaría con un sencillo “¿Por qué no?” Adoro mi pelo, su practicidad y visibilidad, además de que sirve excelente como almohada, si me llegan a conocer serán más que bienvenidos a corroborar lo cómodo y placentero que es al tacto.
You may ask, “why do you have an afro?” If that is the case I’d answer with a simple “why not?” I love my hair, its handiness and visibility, plus it works as an excellent pillow. If you ever get to know me, you’re more than welcome to corroborate how comfy and full of pleasure it’s to the touch.
