My name is Jordan Lee and I am a libertarian blogger based in the UK. For the past four years, I have been a writer for libertarianhome.co.uk. and I co-host the Dose of Liberty podcast. My main interest is getting the libertarian movement in the UK off the ground. So far there have been some positive steps but there is still lots of work to be done! But how did I become a libertarian?
Like many people, I had no idea what libertarianism was until fairly recently. I remember being the lone 'conservative' guy on my history course. But I soon found myself uncomfortable with the 'conservative' label. Becuase on many issues, I identified as a liberal. Then a strange thing happened; I watch a tv programme about this obscure economic called Friedrich Hayek. I thought to myself "This is it! This is what I beleive"!
It took a couple of years or me to fully understand what libertarianism is and become happy to associate myself with it. Since leaving university I have spent time blogging and attending libertarian meetup events. There is often a shroud of pessimism that surrounds the British libertarian scene. I have heard people say that "there is no British libertarian movement". Although these people may have a point to some extent, the libertarian movement in the UK is slowly growing. I have seen big changes in the past four years up close.
My ambition is to facilitate the British Libertarian movement by spreading ideas and helping raise awareness of the libertarian cause!
I hope you all enjoy reading my articles.
