I’ve been busy for the past days, trying to get an overview of this platform, looking through new, trending and hot-sections in various categories. I am excited to be a part of this innovative and pioneering society!
Presenting myself in maximum 300 words is quite challenging. I could tell many details from my 58 years of life. Is my professional life as a professor in pedagogy of most interest to you Steemit readers? Alternatively, are facts from my personal life as wife and mother of two sons and two granddaughters, better? Maybe, I should rather focus on my passion for documenting daily life through photography and (digital) storytelling. Moreover, why the word limitation, you might ask.
A media world characterized by all kinds of texts; narratives, movies, YouTube-clips, documentaries, blogs, music videos, novels, fake news, etc., can be overwhelming. Quality stories and not so good stories. Stories of different lengths, some far too long. Further, too many stories are often wrapped into one, confusing the receiver.
We’re surrounded by stories. Stories presented as letters on a paper or a screen, or multimodal texts in the shape of digital stories.
Digital storytelling is a continuation of a long tradition from the campfire to today's media reality. Stories are told to convey knowledge and create meaning, and for children of all age stories have been a source of both entertainment and a natural part of investigating themselves and the world. Hi, I'm Kristin
I believe storytelling as a short, personal narrative (maximum 300 words) – as letters on a screen or texts and pictures assembled as a multimodal digital story (maximum 3 minutes), is one approach. I am convinced that such short personal texts could be valuable guidelines for learning in professional setting – and in life.
