Thanks for stopping by! My name is Marc Ouimet and I've been involved in the Montreal's community tech sector for about a decade now. I've worked with many community organizations to help them build their web presence and find digital tools to better achieve their goals.
As such, I've been a co-organizer of the local section of the NetSquared network, Net2Mtl, for a couple of years, along with the COCo people (http://coco-net.org), my tech-spiritual brothers and sisters. Now a communication officier at Corporation de développement communautaire Centre-Sud (http://www.cdccentresud.org), I work to support local organizations from the Centre-Sud neighborhood to amplify their message by building collective tools such as a local news agregator (http://agora.cdccentresud.org) and a collective calendar (http://vivre.cdccentresud).
I've also been involved, for many years, with a mentor of mine named Michel Cartier, who's been vice-president of the Educational Apple Foundation in the 80's, university professor at UQÀM and a prospective analyst. He's currently working on his life masterpiece named 21st Century (http://www.21siecle.quebec), which will soon be launched in english and which will be one of the main subject I'll be blogging about on Steemit. The interests will be ranging from the concept of images-on-screen, data vizualisation, schematisation, open data for the social good and so on.
Working a lot in front of a screen, I chosed, two years ago, to realign myself with a lifelong interest: energetic arts and chinese medicine. I've been practicing martial arts and meditation for more than 15 years and am now a certified shiatsu therapist (I'm currently working with homeless persons through Spa de la rue, a local organization that offers free massage therapy to marginalized people : http://www.spadelarue.org). As such, I will also be blogging, from time to time, about health, body therapy and how the ancient oriental philosophies can guide us into this fast-forwarding world that leaves so many of us out of breath...
