I'm Nathaniel Jayson Sangcap, a Sports Writer/reporter and also a sneaker enthusiast/curator. I'm also a video editor and a photographer at the same time and guess what, I also play for a band as a frontman.
I've been the youngest writer of a sports website and maybe in the industry when I started 4 years ago. I was 23 years old when a sports website owner discovered my skills in writing articles about my favorite Sports, Basketball.
SPORTS WRITER
As a sports writer, I was able to witness priceless events and met legends like Stephen Currry and Lebron James while they're on tour in manila. I also got the privilege to cover for the country's main basketball league in the Philippines, the Philippine Basketball Association.
Contribute articles to a sports media giant, ESPN and gathered reasonable hits. The experience that I had in this career was outstanding as I was able to meet my childhood heroes and even had good conversations with them and made good friends with some of the players like Scottie Thompson, Maika Usita, Dennice Villamor, Jayjay Helterbrand Ronnie Nathanielsz and many more.
The perks of being one of the sports analysts in the country is, I was able to provide information to the general public and the basketball audience and provide them the things that they need/want to know about their favorite team and their favorite league. It is priceless! yes it is! The experience was superb and everything has molded me to be a more mature writer now and in the future.
Sneaker Enthusiast
You might think based on this sub-category, that I have tons of sneakers stored in clear plastic boxes displayed in my room near my couch. No, I dont have much, I have a few.. But the knowledge about the sneaker scene and it's history is my biggest collection.
Being a part of a sports website has opened up an opportunity for me and my crew to witness sneaker events which broaden my sneaker knowledge and it's culture which is also inclined with streetwear and fashion as a whole.
Video Editing
It's quite a technical thing to discuss, but let me try. It wasn't my goal to really be in to multimedia arts or digital creation, it just happened that a certain event needed someone to own a part of the tasks given and luckily, I was given the privilege to somehow create a piece of digital output for a presentation. The pressure was on, given that I'm not really a professional video editor. I am a photographer, an amateur one and I do editing and stuff but I never did videos. I googled everything, watched youtube tutorials, and found out that this is really an interesting hobby. And it turned out to be good. Everyone loved what I created and then I started editing and directing music videos, Vlogs and all that kind of stuff so this might be one of the things that will bring me the dough in the near future.. "I REALLY HOPE" LOL.
Band Vocalist
This one has molded me alot, I meant this part of my life has been the reason why maybe I became who I am today Started out singing solo in gatherings things like that then one day during my 2nd year in High School, I met these cool dudes who really play well (The Band Part)
They heard me singing on the hall way and boom! They wanted me to sing for their band. (Nah I dont sing that good) but yeah, it actually happened. From 2006 to present we're still a band but nope we dont play anymore the way we did before like every single weekend. But the good thing about it? I learned how satisfying it is to do what you love to do. It is priceless, we're not getting paid to play and we're even paying just to get a slot to play and that's the reason why I learned that the saying was true. " Get a job that you love and you will not work a day".
Love Life.
This is exciting.. hmmm okay. I'll tell it all to you in a separate article. Until next time! Peace!!!
