Hi! Thank you for taking the time to read my introduction post and I really hope you’ll read through the end.
My name is Bennise Jade Mae Vijuan, 31 years of age and now living at the beautiful province of Biliran in the Philippines. I am a university graduate and currently working online. If you find my name very long, you may just call me “Nes” for short, I prefer that way anyway.
I am a family-oriented type of person. I feel happy when I’m together with my family and I guess that’s the reason why I still live with my parents and siblings. I always want to give them as much as I could and help at home to make life easier for both of my hardworking parents. Just like any other family, we sometimes fight but we are also easy to express sweetness to each other. And that’s how I describe my home.
Just like any other university graduates who are working at home, I’m also often asked, why not use my hard-earned diploma to work in a company that offers stable salary with benefits or seek opportunities abroad to earn more? I used to dream of that kind of work and there are times when I feel the importance specially when we’re financially short. However, my heart is where I am in now. I love being an ESL teacher. I love my students. I have always longed to be able to work anywhere and closer to my family. I loved the feeling of being physically present when my family needs my help.
My other source of happiness is being able to help others as one way of showing Godly devotion. Being a member of a special organization, I have honed practical skills to help people at difficult times. Example, I was privileged to volunteer in constructing houses for typhoon victims. In every house we built, I can’t help but shed tears out of joy. In addition, I’m also amazed as to how a small girl like me could learn how to build roof trusses, cut a plywood using a saw, connect walls using drills, and paint houses.
I also have a deep love for animals. I remember crying hard over a dead chick that was accidentally stepped on by my uncle. I always pity animals specially those who don’t have a shelter. When, I see pups or kittens, not being fed by their mom, I would really buy milk and bottle-feed them.
Talking about things I like? I would like anything as long as it is in my favorite color. And maybe you already have an idea as to what my favorite color is. Clearly, BLUE it is, or any lighter shade close to it. I can’t hide my excitement and happiness whenever I see blue stuff. Just seeing a whole blue painted house makes me smile. So, my family and friends know what to get me-anything as long as it’s blue. I would say I’m truly obsessed with the color that I would always look for my personal stuff with my exact favorite color.
What do I like to eat? I’m not a picky eater. But, just like anyone, I also have this what they call comfort food. They may not be nutritious though but tasting a bit on any of these foods would really make me feel better specially when I feel down and super stressed. Sometimes, I also cook for my family.
The last but not the least I want to share about me are the things I want to do for leisure. Mainly, I like singing. I’m not a great singer but I can sing. I also love composing poems and writing diaries. I also like painting and taking pictures of nature. And when my wallet permits, I would love to travel and eat the foods I crave.
The reason I’m joining hive is that it enables me to share my story through writing. It feels like writing journals and diaries but not just to be remembered by me alone. This time I would like to share it and inspire. That is why, I’m truly grateful knowing @antonette whom I met through social media and shared with me about Hive. I appreciate her perseverance in discussing to me all the necessary information in able to use Hive effectively. Above all she also reminded me that I must always abide with the rules.
