(Trust me - that watch is showing today's date of 05/09)
So, I've been delaying my "Introduction Post" waiting for the right opportunity to get a picture that fit in the suggested guidelines and I gave up, my schedule and commitments (kids and jobs) keep me from doing even simple crafty things. I've been doing some replies to posts etc... but consider this the grand opening.
I established the username "pecosdave" for myself when I signed up for my first email address in 1996 at the now defunct myownemail.com. My Yahoo! account is almost as old. I was the exclusive for a while until some gambler came along, a few people stumped for user names etc... but MOST of the big sites I have that name except for the porn king who took it if you do a search - I'm going to kick that guy in the dick if I ever meet him.
I'm an active Libertarian seriously considering becoming a libertarian after the way the convention went last month here in Texas.
Career wise I'm technical with a very wide base. My job titles have included assembler, Systems Administrator, I.T., Engineering Technician (field engineer), Desktop Support, Helpdesk Manager, Retail Support, Datacomm, right now my title is Software Support. Currently that means I'm the Linux guy AND the hardware guy when it comes to deploying equipment on Texas Toll roads. I'm making OCR cameras, laser triggers, inductive axle counters, flashes, etc... all work together. I've done work for NASA, oil companies, and ISPs in the past. I spent a significant part of yesterday 30 feet up in the air on a boom lift working in an equipment cabinet off of SH 288. Yeah, my current data centers a little different from the under-floor forced air versions I've worked in before.
I've got a beautiful wife, two kids with one on the way. My hobby has to do with bikes, but I haven't really been able to do much with my hobby the past few years, I'm hoping to get past that soon with the recent job/house change.
I've been at the front of the wave on a lot of "Internet-norms". I consider my first social network to be UserFriendly.org where I used to be super active. It doesn't fit the modern definition of a social network, but trust me, back in the day it was and I've still got connections on modern networks to lots of those people. I was an earlier memer, though I've backed off, a lot of that was on LiveJournal - which I still like and don't really use. I've got a time budge. I'm over on Minds, but again, don't have a lot of time for it, I've got a half-dozen articles I want to write for it and can't.
I just moved, I don't even have Internet access at home yet. That being said I'm in the Greater Houston Area and have been since 1998.
