Five years ago I felt really, really shit. Today I feel drastically less shit; often, dare I say it, happy.
The long ride between the two shit dimensions first involved awareness of my mental state, understanding of how I could improve it and the empathy and support of others throughout.
Now I’ve reached a point of relative stability point, looking after and maintaining mental wellbeing is my highest priority. Doing so in a way that is fun is a must and, hopefully, getting others to follow, share with me and build a community a future goal.
(This was me trying to be clever but showing exercise of the mind. It wasn't long before I realised it was a public gym and I had the sweat of literally thousands in my mouth)
Over the coming months I'm going to embrace a number of habits proven to help the mind in a bid to help build a lifestyle conducive to a sustained positive mental outlook.
I'm going to research techniques, investigate the science behind them and speak to people who've found the benefit.
These habits will be built around four key areas which I'll actively practice and delve into on a weekly basis. They are:
Sweat - get sweaty and release the positive
Think - get curious and focus on something, big or small
Create – do something original, anything
Sustain – eat well, sleep well and sustain your energy
There’ll be ups and downs along the way, but if we can share ideas, success and experience together, it just might help us keep it up and give our minds the focus they deserve.
Let’s start the ride…
