The magazine focuses on growing, using herbs including cannabis, ecology, alternative lifestyle, society, and culture. Our readership are people of all ages, both sex, or any race or creed.
The magazine is published monthly by a nonprofitable organization in the Czech Republic. The format is A4 and it is printed on glossy paper. Every issue contains at least 40 pages and its actual circulation is 9,000 copies.
The magazine is distributed to our readers for FREE through a network of shops, tearooms, clubs, and coffee shops across the country. The network of distributors decently grows. Currently, we are limited just by the number of copies.
We also have subscribers, to whom we directly post a new issue offering a reduced postal charge. Therefore, ROOTS is widely available to anyone who shows interests.
In connection with the magazine, we also work on a project, a YouTube channel - ROOTS TV, where we extend the content to a multimedia format.
A very important part of the magazine is our website www.casopisroots.cz Currently, we are also building an English version. The official launch is planned in November this year. All new articles will be published there and also here on steemit.
By interactive connections between the hardcopy - the traditional - and modern platforms of the magazine, we want to distribute the content to a wide public at the lowest low cost as possible.
How it started - a few words from the founder, Jindřich Krása
I started my editorial work about 15 years ago with writing reviews for a Czech game magazine, Score. Where I worked with Czech PC games legends, Mikoláš Tuček and Jan Modrák. I immediately discovered that writing is what I wanted to do in the future. However, for a couple of years, I had forgotten about it and rather focused on chasing money in various companies.
Eight years ago, I accepted the offer and became Editor-in-Chief in the Czech language mutation of the Dutch cannabis paper, Soft Secrets. In the meantime, in February 2015, I started playing with the idea to form a new magazine, which had been missing on the market back then. The dream came true in November 2015 when a first issue saw the light of day. It was exciting! Together with all the amazing people around me, the team, we have been successfully publishing ROOTS ever since.
And why ROOTS? I love nature. Unfortunately, it really suffers from people's actions. I want to change it! A huge driving force in trying to make the world a better place is my son, Lukas.
We are looking forward to getting fully on steemit board!
