So, after the dumpster fire broke out on Steem I started a massive powerdown of my Steem with full intentions of leaving entirely once that time was up. I new of efforts to start up Hive before I left, but honestly I was so burned by Steem I just decided that retreating for a while was the better option. Well, I logged in today to see the dumpster fire was still continuing, Steempeak was shutting down soon, and my powerdown was roughly 2/3 of the way through (I wish this was faster, 13 weeks is insane to wait...), so it seemed nothing had improved since my last visit. However, I saw Steempeak mentioning redirecting to their version on Hive, so I decided to take a look. After discovering my account had automatically transferred over, and spending longer than I should have figuring out how to actually log in (This information really needs to be front and center, it's a bit too well hidden right now...), I finally got logged in and discovered not only was everything there, it was a much better situation!
Upon logging in, I found my powerdown had actually transferred over to here as well. I also discovered my account's worth had double what my Steem account is worth. Upon seeing this, I immediately halted my powerdown and have reinvested(powered up) all of my Hive and HBD(as soon as it converts) in order to support the continued growth of the Hive Network. As soon as my Steem is powered down, I will sell it and get more Hive as well. I hope many lessons have been learned from Steem and will be used to build a better, stronger, more decentralized community. One where pre-mined stake doesn't hang over the network. Where hostile witnesses can hijack the network on a coordinated whim (I don't care if they were trying to counter the new hostile owner of Steem, it shouldn't be possible to do what they did). One where censorship is actually impossible and control by a few oligarchs is not feasible. One where Proof of Brain is put ahead of Proof of Spam. A network that can be a model for blockchain soclai media networks to come!
I have great hope for the Hive Network, the Hive Blockchain. I plan on making a post soon detailing myself (again) for those on the Hive Blockchain, who I am, what I'm interested in, etc. In the meantime, I will start rebuilding some of what I used to do back on Steem. For now though...
