I missed the first step on Steemit. Introduce yourself!
I'm Melissa. I'm an expert in vintage, old stuff with collectible or resale value. I love vintage clothing, jewelry, and accessories. Retro and nostalgia are all the rage. Like my Lionel Ritchie reference. It takes me back in time. You can easily pick this up on vinyl at my market and any other good vintage market. Watch the video on Youtube, so worth it.
I have bought and sold vintage for 19 years and have a vintage market in the Midwest. Self-employed for 18 years, my business started online in 1998.
It was a special time! You could sell a ballpoint pen found in the street on eBay for $20. I got into selling vintage and antiques online. I liked the scarcity factor and I learned. Almost 20 years later, it's a physical market and more.
Being a small business owner can suck. Things you've never considered come up and it all takes 5 times longer than you think. Sometimes I don't leave my house for 5 days at a time and work in the basement office next to my washer. BUT self-employment offers flexibility and it's something I can't live without now.
My first steemit post was about my obsession with crypto and Bitcoin.
Crypto and flipping vintage have something in common. If you don't know quality for the right price you won't succeed.
Bitcoin for Girls is for enthusiasts like me. Talk and learn. Ask questions without fear and find like-minded. I'm a complete beginner in cryptocurrencies. It's fascinating and exciting. Like the early days of the internet.
The days of dial-up? I was there. It was slow, tedious and exciting. You put up with it was because you could feel the energy. I had a giant Gateway desktop (and a few other giant desktops that made tons of noise). High-speed internet? Out of the question for regular people like us. Cell phones were expensive and being online constantly made my home phone useless. I lived online.
I feel a buzzing excitement with blockchain technology. I see a worldwide currency in our future. I see new Googles, Apples and Microsofts coming.
I'm excited to be here! Let's talk business, vintage and BITCOIN!! I will get back to the story of my lost Bitcoin next!
