Alright, you got me. Fuck’s sake...
Hello, steemit. Hello, community – or is it really?
Hello, Blockchain. I guess I just said yes. I’ll be yours. Until I die. Or maybe longer.
I don’t know how many of you have read Dave Eggers’ The Circle (and no, the movie does not count)? I will ask you already now to forgive my future occasional passive aggression towards and fear of the blockchain. It’s just hella scary to me. I’ll get into that.
But you’re right, let me introduce myself first:
My name is w-allets. Obviously, that’s not what my parents called me but my name is in there somewhere and, as I am freakishly paranoid about this, I prefer to remain not googleable with my real name right away (allow me that little piece of resistance, please).
From the outside, I would most likely be called a white, female millennial. I studied liberal arts (mostly econ, philosophy, development studies, and politics). I am currently working at the same university where I studied, researching good and bad practices in student-centred learning methods.
I love it.
I love education, and especially progressive education that enables students’ curiosity to be retrieved. Education that, when formally completed, releases its students into the real world as happy people prepared for life, ideally with some riot spirit and a lot of wit. I love it because it was one of the most transformative experiences in my life.
Obviously, this makes me want to write, talk, sing about education all day long. And it’s part of what I want to do here.
There’s more stuff that I love to and will talk about here:
Tech and Coding. Obviously, I'll get into how I see the Blockchain as one of the most promising and inspiring tech developments in the 21st century – and why I think it’s also fucking scary, weird, and maybe even overrated. I want to look at anarchism and the blockchain, as well as blockchain and free market theory. I want to discuss and learn collaboratively about this topic, because I believe there's a lot to learn. What is the added value? What are the chances? What are the dangers? Why do I have such a negative gut feeling about it?
Capitalism and the economy. And (obviously) Economics education. It’s messed up and explains a lot.
Pretence, work, and professionalism.
Design, online and offline. I’ve always been into photography and photoshop-stuff. Recently I also discovered illustrator and it’s a new world for me. Again, sharing and learning are my aims here. I’m also moving soon and planning on DIY quite a bit, maybe I’ll share that, if folks are interested.
I also love talking in general, about love and my not-really boyfriend, pop-culture, politics, and the environment.
Let’s see what you like and want to hear.
Alright. There we go. Post, now and bye.
Until infinity, cause that’s where we are now,
w-allets
