Hello Steemit community! I will keep this short and sweet :)
I have been working in the field of plant medicine (specifically Ibogaine/Iboga) for two years. I currently reside in Costa Rica working at a beautiful Iboga retreat center, before here I worked in Mexico at an Ibogaine clinic specific to drug detoxes. I come from a torn family and went through twelve years of some gnarly addiction and some fascinating conscious exploration.
A little background on Iboga:
In the simplest explanation, Iboga (Tabernanthe Iboga) is shrub locale to Central, West Africa (primarily Gabon and Cameroon) that causes an oneirogenic effect -- stimulating a waking, dream like state. Iboga was originally discovered by the Pygmies hundreds of years ago quite by mistake. There are many interpretations of it's discoveries... Eventually the use of it spread for its healing effects on the mind, body and soul. The spread of this medicine created a culture among primitive tribes in the region that eventually began calling themselves "Bwiti."
When the French colonized Gabon, they found a way to extract the main alkaloid, Ibogaine, and used it in small micro-dosing levels as a stimulant supplement. It was not until 1962 when a man in New York accidentally discovered it's effects in eliminating Heroin withdrawal.
My blog will focus on a combination of my own story and the use of Iboga/Ibogaine. Including the Bwiti way of life, and current use as well as research data.
Thanks for reading and I'm happy to be here!
