Seeing as my last introduction post was rather... let's say "heavily ChatGPT-4 influenced", I'd like to infuse a little more of my authentic self into this brief introduction. Let's lift the curtain and reveal the "man behind the curtains"!
Sure, I'm truly passionate about health and AI, as mentioned in that previous post. But since this blog is dedicated to the AI side of things, let's dive into what makes me tick in that realm.
A Non-Techie in the World of AI
As far as my background goes, I'm not exactly a tech whiz. I've had nothing to do with AI advancements, nor any of the technology that has led us to this point. I'm not a "coder", nor do I know how to code anything beyond a "Hello, World!" message on a code editor (is that even what it's called?).
So, you might be scratching your head, wondering how I could possibly call myself an AI "prompt wiz", given the confession I just made. Well, my friends, the answer is simple: I've spent a ton of time experimenting with prompts, testing different ideas, and comparing results. We're talking hundreds of hours getting down and dirty with it.
Finding Motivation in AI's Potential
What drives me to invest so much time in what some might consider a dull or unrewarding pursuit? First and foremost, it's the real benefits I foresee this tech having in advancing our knowledge and tools to improve individual and global health – an overlap with my other passion (which I discuss in more detail over here). We're on the verge of significant advancements in medicine and mental health treatments, all thanks to the power of complex and intelligent AI systems. And that, my friends, gets me incredibly excited for the future of AI!
Moreover, I'm simply captivated by the concept of an inorganic system that can emulate consciousness and perhaps even achieve a quality of consciousness that's indistinguishable from our own (who am I to say?). The technology and its potential are absolutely fascinating (and, yet, also terrifying).
It blows my mind that we already have a language model AI scoring in the 90th percentile on tests taken by the brightest humans, and it's only getting smarter every day. Soon, we'll be talking about AI outperforming our species' best and brightest in every measurable aptitude, ushering in world-changing advancements in science, medicine, and beyond.
