Greetings from a Newbie!
Hello Hive World!
I never knew that there was a platform like Hive where I could express myself through writing, together with different communities as a support system to my daily journey as a wife of a bipolar husband.
When I was young my parents were not that supportive of my studies. Yes, they sent me to school, but they don’t want me to participate in any school program, the reason is we don’t have enough money. Even without money involved, they still scold me if I insist. That’s the reason I grew up without self-confidence. My father died when I was 17 years old and I’m in my first year of college taking up a Bachelor of Elementary Education. I must stop going to school to work for my family since I have on my shoulder as the first child to help my mother and my three siblings. And it begins my journey to boost my self-esteem.
Here are my siblings!
The reason why I joined Hive is that I can become a better version of myself through my writings of experiences. This is the platform that I believe will help me grow and develop into a better writer. I am so grateful somebody introduces it to me so that I can express myself and my thoughts freely. Thank you so much @mommyjane for guiding me in Hive and helping me develop myself through writing. With this, I can now help others be inspired by my story and the things I looked up to
Sneak Peak of me!
I am Mich, 42 and 13 years married to a Pastor of a Christian Church. God did not give us a child until now, but we are happily taking care of a lot of young people in our church. I love to see our youth today immerse in God’s truth and walk on the right path in life that is why I teach them the Word of God.
I am the kind of person who stands for what is right. And I believe because of being a breadwinner to my family I stand firmly by the grace of God. Maybe that is the reason why I married at an old age. At 28 I met the person who is now my partner at the seminary, got married at 29, and until now had no child.
They said children give us joy. Yes indeed, but the two of us are happy until now even without children. It is so sad to see children nowadays bombarded by social media, that is the reason also we did not pursue adoption.
A Bipolar Partner
What is Bipolar? It is a person with a different mood swing. At first, I thought it was just a simple sickness that can be treated when taken care of. After 11 years of marriage, my nightmare begins. In June of 2021, the sickness strikes again, I believe it is because of so much stress in DEPEd since he is a Senior High School teacher here in our place. He also gave counsel to the broken heartache teachers who are his colleague. He is also pastoring our church here where we have a problem with some of our young people. And because of it, he has emotional turmoil. He did not sleep for almost 1 week just talking to nobody, I was distressed during that time thinking of anything to stop him.
My hubby and our church.
So, I decided to take him back to his family in the mountain barangay of Dumanjug. There we contacted an online psychiatrist who gave us medication. To make the story short, after 3 weeks he was treated. Right now, there are attacks whenever he cannot sleep well and there is so much work to do. But thanks to God he has his medication, and he is already aware of the attacks starting to creep in. I searched many online topics on how to treat them the right way and how to respond to them appropriately.
Worst experience!
When Typhoon Odette (Rai) hit Naga tremendously on the night of December 16, 2021, where our church was severely hit by the strong winds and large branches of trees struck it. The church was destroyed but I thank God our house still stands. No water and no electricity are experienced by almost 80% of Nagahanons. It takes more than a month of daily struggle to find a water source and electricity to charge our cell phones. But by God’s grace, we survived!
I have a lot of things to express myself, including the following:
Baking and Cooking
I love baking and cooking and I spend a lot of time being a wife. My husband loves different fish dishes but not sophisticated, simple ones that will satisfy his palate. I enjoy food presentations and table settings also. I prefer making frozen foods on my own rather than buying them in the market. I can help my fellow writer and the mommies out there to know simple dishes that can help them earn even being a full-time mom.
Children feeding is another way of stress reliever, together with our young people we went to different areas of our community to teach them the word of God or stories in the bible, play games, and feed them. The smiles on their faces cannot contain how happy we are with what we were doing.
I do love traveling also. When I was younger, I traveled a lot since I worked as a field researcher. I traveled all around Visayas and Mindanao before but not now just a few places only since my pocket is not that stable to spend. I visited Boracay, Tarlac, and a few places in Cebu, especially Camotes and Bantayan Island. (Who knows someday in Singapore)
And now in addition to my hobbies am making blogs. It’s my pleasure to be a part of this awesome community where amazing people help me grow. I am so excited to read and learn new stories from you. Thank you so much Hive for giving me an opportunity to become a better person again through writing. See you on my next blog.
