Bangladesh Red Crescent Society has confirmed the identity of 27 Bangladeshis killed in boats in the Mediterranean on the coast of Tunisia.
On Monday, a Red Crescent press release issued the identity of the dead. They are Nasir of Chatkhil of Noakhali, Kamran of Tongi in Gazipur, Parvez of Shariatpur, Kamrun Ahmed, Sajib of Madaripur, Jalal Uddin and Al-Amin of Kishoreganj; Sylhet Zillur Rahman, Limon Ahmed, Abdul Aziz, Ahmed, Zillur, Rafiq, Ripon, Ayat, Amajal, Kasim Ahmed, Khokon, Rubel, Monir, Belal and Maruf; Mahbub, Nadeem and Mahbub of Sunamganj and Shamim of Moulvibazar, Fahad.
Imam Zafar Shikdar, acting director of the Family Communication Restoration Division of the Bangladesh Red Crescent Society, said that the identity of 27 Bangladeshi people killed after talking to four Bangladeshi nationals rescued by the provincial chief Mange Slim of Tunisia Red Crescent has been confirmed.
However, the Red Crescent official in Tunisia's city Zarzis, Mange Slim, told the first light on Wednesday night that they came to know the names of 27 people from the rescued Bangladeshis. Since the body was not found, their names are still listed on the list of missing people. The Tunisian Navy has temporarily stopped the rescue operation due to a strong flow in the Mediterranean, he said.
