A New Chapter: Finding My Place in the Hive Universe
Man, I gotta tell you - writing this first post feels way more nerve-wracking than I thought it would. Like, here I am, Shahram, fresh outta uni with a comp sci degree that took me way too many all-nighters to get, trying to figure out how to properly introduce myself to this wild, wonderful Hive community.
You know that feeling when you walk into a party where you don't really know anyone? That's me right now. Except the party's online and instead of holding a drink I'm just kinda... typing? Anyway, here goes nothing.
So yeah, I'm 26, which means I'm at that weird age where I'm technically an adult but still feel like I'm faking it most days. Just finished university (finally!) after what felt like a lifetime of debugging code at 3am and arguing with group project members who never pulled their weight. Good times.
What drew me to Hive? Honestly, I was getting real tired of regular social media. Everything's so... calculated there, you know? Like, why's everything gotta be about selling me stuff or making me angry? Here it feels different - like people actually wanna talk about interesting things and build something cool together. Plus the whole blockchain thing is pretty neat from a tech perspective, even if I'm still wrapping my head around some of it.
I'll be real with you guys - I'm not some coding genius or anything. I mean, I can hold my own, but half the time I'm just googling error messages like everyone else. What I do have is a stupid amount of curiosity and this annoying habit of getting way too excited about random tech stuff. Like, I'll fall down rabbit holes about decentralized systems or UI design and next thing I know it's 4am and I've got 12 tabs open.
What I'm hoping to find here is... well, I dunno exactly. Somewhere to share the weird thoughts I have about technology and society? People to nerd out with about open-source projects? Maybe just a place that doesn't make me feel like I'm shouting into the void?
If you've been around Hive for a while, hit me with your best advice. What should a clueless newbie like me check out first? Any communities that are especially welcoming? Or just tell me about your own weird Hive journey - I'm all ears.
And to anyone else who's new here - hey, we can be confused together! Maybe we'll figure this thing out as we go along.
This is me with friends
Anyway, that's enough rambling from me for now. I'm probably overthinking this whole introduction thing (classic Shahram move). Looking forward to getting to know you all, mistakes and all.
Peace,
Shahram
PS - If you see me messing up tags or posting in the wrong communities, go easy on me yeah? Baby steps.
PPS - No idea if this is how you're supposed to end these things. Is there, like, a proper Hive post etiquette? Someone please tell me before I embarrass myself more.
