Hi there Hive! I am John Kyle Monares (@iamjkk), a new cast member who likes to explore, discover, and improve. I am from the Philippines and currently living in the northern part of Cebu, in the municipality of Tabogon. I was born and raised originally in Cebu city but we moved to Tabogon when I was 3 years old. I am the eldest among my four siblings and I just turned 18 last March 12. I am currently studying at the University of Cebu for almost 2 years and now a graduating grade 12 student. For the past few years, I have developed great writing and communication skills and I want to share with you what I have learned through this blogging community.
PASSION/INTEREST/HOBBIES
Writing (essays, diaries, and journal)
Writing is one of my passions. When I was in my first grade, I found out that I am good at writing. I found it fun to write down notes whenever a teacher told us to do so. I was very diligent about it, especially when the teacher said that she/he will check our notes after (it was my favorite part since I was very competitive in my elementary school days). It was never a tedious thing to do at school, hence writing notes was very satisfying since I also loved to see my writings in my notebook. Ever since that day, I started to write more. In my junior high school days, I started writing diaries about the important events that happened in those years. Whenever I get bored, I write to free myself from boredom.
Through writing, I can express my thoughts and emotions about certain things that I’ve experienced. Whenever I get excited, sad, or a little bit out of mood, I would just jot down my thoughts about it. Although it is my favorite thing to do, I also experienced hardships in writing. I struggle a lot in times when I have plenty of work to do and don’t have the time to write diaries anymore. But that never stopped me from doing what I’m passionate about. I started learning how to divide my time for my studies and house chores. Because of this, I was still able to write diaries and even journals in my senior high school days for at least twice a week.
Last month, the 30th day of March, a notification popped up on my phone. Turns out it was a messenger chat. I didn’t mind it at first because I thought it was just my friends on our group chat having a normal conversation. They usually ask me to play Call of duty mobile with them or invite me to their house. But, when I saw @penflecto’s profile picture in the chat heads, I immediately wondered what his message could be about. As I read his message, he told me that there will be an orientation about this Hive website where bloggers can post freely and communicate with other bloggers. My heart shouted in happiness as I have been waiting for this day to come. I was very excited since I really want to share my works and also want to expand my knowledge about blogging through this amazing website. When I heard that the Hive community is going to conduct an orientation in Lamac, at @restlessadvntr’s house, I immediately marked the schedule and went to my hometown to attend the orientation on the following day. I was very excited to be introduced into this blogging community since I am very passionate in sharing my ideas and expressing my emotions. One thing that made me feel so amazed about Hive is that it is a decentralized website meaning I can write and share with other people my experiences anytime and anywhere.
Arts & Crafts
I fell in love with arts and crafts ever since I was a kid. I often draw figures, paint, and play with shapes. I also love to craft things out of recyclable materials, such as cardboard, plastic bottles, and reusable papers. It gives me fulfillment in my heart whenever I create something that holds a significant value for me. I truly believe that through arts and crafts, our world can be lively and exciting.
Singing/Having a Karaoke session with my friends
One of my favorite hobbies is to sing. A fun fact about me is that I am a self-taught singer. When I was in my elementary days, I usually sang on stage at the end of the school year or even at minor celebrations in school. I was encouraged to sing in front of numerous people by my teacher in fourth grade. Since that day, I have strived to improve my singing talent and I am delighted to see what I’ve become today.
Playing Basketball
Basketball is my favorite sport. It helped me in times when I want to lose weight and want to maintain my body shape. Whenever I get to hold the ball, I feel this urge that I can be a superstar someday with this sport. Even though I’m not that good, I can be a superstar by myself. Not only that, basketball eased my anxiety and stress and I feel self assured when I play this sport.
Going to the gym/Working out with my friends
I started going to the gym last 2023 but I only trained for months. I have to focus more on my studies and don't have the time to workout anymore. But, I enjoyed my experience while I was in the gym. The reasons why I really love the place are that the cost per session was pretty cheap, for about 40 pesos, the equipment was limited but plenty enough to train my whole body. I love to track my progress and see my muscles growing, especially when it’s arm day. Yes, my favorite part to train is my arm since I have a weak and small arm before. I do bicep and hammer curls for my biceps, rope pushdowns for my triceps, shoulder press and lateral raises for my shoulders, and forearm curls for my forearms. These exercises helped me in shaping my arms even just for a few months. Although I didn’t actually achieve my dream physique, I am very thankful for every moment I experienced at the gym. For now, I want to focus on my studies and hopefully I can get back on working out.
REASONS FOR JOINING HIVE
Why did I join the Hive community? Well, straightforwardly, because I want to explore the website as @callmesmile told us during the orientation that Hive is a broad and extensive website. And most importantly, to publish my works, to share with my fellow hivers my experiences, ideas in life, the lessons I learned along the way, and more. I want to discover and learn how the website works while also publishing works. Apart from creating blogs, I also want to interact with other bloggers who are specialists in this field. I want to read blogs specifically to acquire great knowledge and lessons because I believe that there are still subjects I don’t know as much about.
WHAT CAN I CONTRIBUTE
I want to provide and create blogs that are engaging, fascinating to read, and of course, blogs that have significant lessons in life. I want to share my ideas as we all know we have different perspectives in life and I believe we need to understand each other's opinions as it affects us as individuals. By understanding different views, we can help each other grow and value ourselves.
HOW I GOT TO KNOW HIVE?
I would like to give my sincere thanks to @callmesmile, @jobeliever, and @naymhapz for introducing Hive blockchain last month. They explained concisely what Hive is all about and how the website works. A deep thanks also to @restlessadvntr for welcoming us to his house where the orientation was held. Most especially, a heartfelt gratitude to @penflecto. He encouraged me to join this wonderful community. Without them, I would not have satisfied my curiosity about Hive. Joining this blogging community is a crucial achievement for me as I now have the chance and a new path to devote my attention to.
