STEEM is as viral as it can be in the crypto-currency world. This begs the question, what is the future of STEEM?

STEEM has gone from being barely known to a viral sensation in the world of crypto-currency. Poloniex which is one of the biggest exchanges listed it in this week, it is now the 3rd most valuable crypto-currency above Ripple and Litecoin, It's alexa rank has increased massively, the worth of Steemit.com has crossed $1,100,000 mark. We have achieved this much in just a week. What about the coming weeks, months and years? Where will STEEM be next year? Where will STEEM be in the next 5 years?

The Future Of Steem

A lot of people know about STEEM but not enough, if you get what I mean. It's not mainstream like Bitcoin yet. Bitcoin has been steadily getting into the everyday life on the average person on the street. Hell, it has even been featured in a TV show (Mr. Robot, amazing show). It wouldn't be wrong to say that it is the current face of crypto-currencies. But that doesn't mean it is end-all crypto-coin. The emergence of STEEM poses a threat to Bitcoin's rule. STEEM has recently been hot on Bitcoin's tale, even getting close to its number of transactions per day.

If STEEM can dethrone Ripple and Litecoin to become the 3rd most valuable crypto, can it dethrone Ethereum and Bitcoin to become the king? Of course it can.

Where do I see STEEM in the next 10 years

Well, there will be 12.5 Bitcoins per block until mid-2020. The reward will then be halved and will be 6.25 Bitcoins for the next 4 years until next halving. It is impossible to know what will happen to it's price after the halving but potentially there can be declines. It is entirely possible that STEEM takes over Bitcoin as the new face of crypto-currency. For the record, I hope it does. It will be refreshing to see that happen, in my opinion. This can only just be my wishful thinking.

I see STEEM at the forefront of crypto currencies with many people using it. STEEM still has to lay down the infrastructure, it is still very early for it. The coming 2-3 years will be defining for STEEM. They will determine in which direction STEEM is heading; whether it's going to become the top crypto or not, it still remains to be seen.

However, if there is one thing that I can say with utter surety, it is that the future of STEEM is exciting and bright. I look forward to that excitement and hope that we overcome any obstacles that may stand in the way.
