Hello, I decided to write to share my project which called “PFC(Personal Food Computer)”. A number of people didn’t hear this term. But you can imagine this easy. PFC stands for the Personal Food Computer, in the initial time, MIT MediaLab open agriculture initiative starts with this project to solve the problem in the agriculture industry.
Exactly, what kind of the problem is we are facing in the agriculture?
Rapid Urbanization? Growing population? Non-fair distribution? Not sustainable methodology? Aging Farmer? Suicide ratio of the farmer? The habit of the food&lifestyle?
Above of all is the right. But the worst problem is not mentioned. “Reproduce the efficient agriculture”. In my personal view, “Reproducing” is the representative of the how this knowledge and technology spread to us and degree of the gap the between the workers. Someone said, “Agriculture lean the fortune and experience”. He makes the “Excuse” to avoid his mistake or fail in near future. I hate someone said it is not “Reproducing” and it needs the time to take the master. I know a number of fields and job demand the time to familiar and master it. It is no way to evolve if we accept this hypothesis. Say again “I hate it.”
Let’s think together, Which one is the best thing to “Reproducing” same process and job? “Robot”
It’s right. PFC is the stepping stones to help the automatization in the agriculture using the Technology. In the early stage of the PFC focus the collect the sensor data. Following list is the collect data list from the PFC.

PFC is a miniature of the” Plant Factory with Artificial Light”. It means that PFC is a one of the close environment to growing plant to prevent the heat or any physical-chemical exchange or minimizing them. It designed not affected by the external environment, through this design we can experiment continuos without any stop moment to generate and find the best recipe for growing plant. All of the sensor data from the PFC use in the analysis stage in the big data context.
Probably, Cloud Computer and Distributing Computing Power is the best resource to power this project. In my case, AWS(Amazon Web Service) is required and boost to the project. In my strategy to integrate to this “Cloud Computer” has a two surface. One is the make the “IoT PFC”. Other is the “Machine Learning” on the AWS with inner “Data Lake”. In near future, I would write about the architecture of the PFC in the AWS context.
Especially, Machine Learning is highly betting technology on myself. But, from to the scratch of the all of the machine learning algorithms and their formula in the mathematics is difficult. Okay, I convince myself I can understand their formula of the mathematics, But following the mathematics is boring. I like the make and design awesome things and applying the new high technology to evolve and include a number of the feature. “Rapid Prototyping” demand the feeling of the speed. And I have to stand on the shoulder of the Giant.
And Following this “Reinvent the wheel”. I following this proverb. “AWS” is one of the giants on today. Using the Cloud Computer and their SaaS of the Machine Learning Feature, evolve the PFC and make the evolution ofthe agriculture. It is the philosophy and vision of the PFC.
