This article is going to be more a look into the ways in which you can stay up-to date with the project, assuming you read my previous article which went into detail on what IoTchain is, and what they're planning on doing, and why. If you didn't, here's a brief summary of what the project are aiming to achieve.
In the modern age, nearly every appliance in your home has the ability to connect out to the internet in some way or another, for example there are fridges that can send you an alert when you're low on milk. Your heating can be controlled from a mobile app so you can make the house the perfect temperature when you leave work, allowing it to heat up for when you get in. These are known as 'IoT' devices, don't know what that mean? 'IoT' by definition refers to everything that is connected to the internet and is short for 'Internet Of things'
Now, although this sounds amazing, it does bring with it the security risks associated with having your entire house connected to the network, your appliances can connect out, but that also means that they can be used as a possible point of entry into your network by malicious users. Case in point, it was recently in the news that a Las Vegas Casino was hacked via a fish tank in the lobby, this led to the database of high-roller gamblers being stolen through the thermostat. (You can read more on this example, here: Hacker's steal casino database via a fish-tanks thermometer )
As you can see, there is a need for a way in which these IoT devices can be secured, and ensure events like above cannot happen. This is where IoTChain come in, using their blockchain project to form the basis of the security platform, and then integrating the IoTDevices via a secure operating system they are essentially combining these two technologies to provide a solution that bridges the blockchain world and the IoT device world into a single secure point of access, that allows the IoTdevices to easily connect to the internet and other IoTdevices, but prevents unauthorised access to and from those devices. On top of this, users can earn ITC tokens by having their IoT device connected to the network, via it sharing generalised data, meaning that not only do users get a product that makes them more secure, they can earn simply by having their devices connected to the internet.
IoTChain are designing their product to provide the layer of security that standard homes are missing for their IoT devices (Ever seen an anti-virus for your fridge of your TVC? No? Didn't think so) this is a much needed solution especially in today's day and age where there are huge hacks and data leaks almost weekly. Using the blockchain they provide a high level of security and transparency, and allows them to reward users in ITC tokens for having devices connected. The operating system is a very lite-weight and secure piece of software that is designed to act as the bridge between the two technologies, much like if you use a VPN client on your home PC to connect into your work machine, while not impacting the service that the IoT device provides.
Back on track, if you would like to keep up-to date with the goings on, the IoTChain team has recently started making a high quality newsletter, and is probably one of the best ways you can stay up-to date with the IoTChain project, you'll receive exclusive event invitations and well as learning about a lot of the news first. To sign up to the newsletter, head on to their website at: http://iotchain.io scroll to the footer of the website and enter an email into the 'Subscribe' box, and that's it, you're now signed upto the teams newsletter, and will be well informed of the happenings including updates and community bounties and completions as soon as they happen.
Lastly, in my opinion the best way to keep up-to date with not only the IoTchain project, but any ICO that you may be invested in, or simply want to keep an eye on is Telegram. Some people love it, some people hate it. Personally I think it's a fantastic channel to communicate with and keep in touch with ICO's. If you have a telegram account, checkout the IoTchain channel which is available here: https://t.me/IoTChain the admin team are active 24x7, there is a large community of people who are active daily and any questions or queries you may have are usually answered by the admin team within minutes.
As per my previous article, if you missed out on the ICO for IoTchain, or can't afford to invest in some ITC tokens from an exchange, checkout their bounties which are available here: https://bounty.iotchain.io/ they run new ones nearly weekly, which include affiliate and referral bonuses, community graphics designs and many more options.
Otherwise, If you'd like to stay up-to date with the project, checkout their social media channels below;
