Last week, riots and protests ensued over a hike in gasoline charges. So much so that the events lead to an internet shutdown for over a week in what experts say was an attempt to stop the flow of information and quash the demonstrations. However, Iran has stated that they have arrested eight people who allegedly have ties to the United States Central Intelligence Agency, the CIA. A quote on Reuter:
“These elements had received CIA-funded training in various countries under the cover of becoming citizen-journalists,” IRNA quoted the Intelligence Ministry as saying. “Six were arrested while attending the riots and carrying out (CIA) orders and two while trying to ... send information abroad.”
Iran's supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei on Wednesday said his sanctions-hit country had foiled a "very dangerous" plot after the violent demonstrations. This isn't the first time Iran has claimed US CIA spies made their way into Iran, back in July, they allegedly arrested 17 agents.
Iran captured 17 spies working for the US intelligence agency, the CIA, and some have been sentenced to death, an Iranian official said on Monday, a claim Washington denied.
Security agencies "successfully dismantled a [CIA] spy network," the head of counterintelligence at the Iranian Ministry of Intelligence, whose identity was not revealed, told reporters in Tehran.

Nearly all religions believe we are presently in the "end times", that period of history when the world will undergo divine judgment, followed by the establishment of the everlasting Kingdom of God that is reserved for the chosen.
