In 1988 came a ruling in Congress stating that Indian Tribes most noted the Iroquois Confederacy contributed to the modeling of United States of America government structures such as, The Bill Of Rights and the Constitution.
It was said that the United States of America would then be adding to the educational social studies history books about the Iroquois Confederacy contributions to the government However, there's little knowledge of this being the case. Very few people realize that the Native Americans actually had a hand in creating the United States government at all. Information about our Origins and how we came to be are very critical to being able to identify to the world around us. It is necessary to take with us the heritage of our past to move forward into the future confidently. For a group the Iroquois Confederacy and the Native American tribes of North America as a whole in the United States have done so much to make this country what it is today.
With nearly 500 years of oppression after European arrival to the Americas we owe it to the indigenous people in the Americas to give them recognition and accept them as people not savages, not 2nd or 3rd class citizens, but to truly appreciate them as the brothers and sisters, grandfathers and grandmothers who they truly are to everyone in the United States of America.
R.I.P.A.C. would love to create a participatory democracy in the same spirit as the Iroquois Confederacy. All the way down to the sense of it sacredness the Iroquois people cherish. A similar spirit to their process, with thorough processes of direct democracy. We deserve nothing less. Let's take back our sacred democracy and look to the Iroquois Confederacy as the forefathers did. Join R.I.P.A.C.
