Hello everyone, I'm back with my other simple lesson on the technique of watercolor.
We are all familiar with the Winsor and Newton brands.
In 1832, the thirty-year-olds William Winsor and Henry Newton shared the same interest in painting.
Newton was the most gifted of the two from the artistic point of view, while Winsor, brought scientific competence. They set up the company's headquarters at 38 Rathbone Place, in London, in Henry's house, which was at that time in an art district where many important painters, including Constable, had studied, and many others were already present. shopkeepers of colors.
So an artist and a chemist in a few years created the first colors in watercolor paste, even today the best ever.
Today I propose a fairly simple landscape. I confess that I do not particularly love painting landscapes in general with any technique, then if they are realistic landscapes even worse I prefer to create fantasy landscapes (one day I will show you one of the few fantasy landscapes that I did).
I managed to show you some steps, to show you even better some technique and I will explain the various cards better.

Tutti ormai conosciamo la marca Winsor e Newton.
Nel 1832, i trentenni William Winsor e Henry Newton condividevano lo stesso interesse per la pittura. Newton era il più dotato dei due dal punto di vista artistico, mentre Winsor, apportava la competenza scientifica.
Fissarono la sede della società al numero 38 di Rathbone Place, a Londra, nella casa di Henry, che si trovava all’epoca in un quartiere artistico in cui avevano lo studio numerosi importanti pittori, incluso Constable, e in cui erano presenti già numerosi altri negozianti di colori.
Cosi un artista e un chimico nel giro di pochi anni crearono i primi colori in pasta ad acquarello, ancora oggi i migliori in assoluto.
Oggi vi propongo un paesaggio abbastanza semplice.
Vi confesso che io non amo particolarmente dipingere paesaggi in generale con nessuna tecnica, poi se sono paesaggi realistici ancora peggio preferisco creare io paesaggi fantasy (un giorno ve ne mostrerò uno dei pochi paesaggi fantasy che ho fatto).
Sono riuscita a mostrarvi un po’ di passaggi, per mostrarvi anche meglio qualche tecnica e vi spiegherò meglio anche le varie carte.
Il primo passaggio.
In the first picture I worked wet on wet to give a base and a veiling effect.
Do not do as I do, always put a piece of paper tape on the edges to avoid embedding the sheet (even if small).
Once the sheet has been set, prepare the water (in a next lesson I will also explain the types of water and the mediums to be used).
Take a nice brush (better if flat) and start giving glazes with simple water.
After that, start with the desired veiling (do not wait immediately or the water will dry out, so remember to prepare the palette first).
At this point, you decide whether to continue with a wet on wet or wait for it to dry to continue work on a dry basis; you can also do both solutions starting wet on wet and finish with dry.
If you want to do all the work wet on wet, remember to continue to wet the part that dries before.
Finally (in my case) I continued wet on dry with a somewhat impressionistic landscape.
Nella prima foto ho lavorato bagnato su bagnato per dare una base e un effetto velatura.
Non fate come me, mettete sempre del nastro adesivo di carta ai bordi per non far imbarcare il foglio (anche se piccolo).
Sistemato il foglio, preparate l’acqua (in una prossima lezione vi spiegherò anche le tipologie di acque e i medium da usare).
Prendete un bel pennello (meglio se piatto) ed incominciate a dare velature con semplice acqua. Fatto ciò, iniziate con la velatura desiderata (non aspettate subito o l’acqua si asciugherà, quindi ricordate di preparare prima la tavolozza)
A questo punto, sta voi decidere se proseguir con un bagnato su bagnato o aspettare che asciughi per continuare il lavoro su base asciutta; potete fare anche entrambe le soluzioni iniziando bagnato su bagnato e concludete con l’asciutto.
Se invece volete fare bagnato su bagnato tutto il lavoro, ricordate di continuare a bagnare la parte che si asciuga prima.
Infine (nel mio caso) ho proseguito bagnato su asciutto con un paesaggio un po’ impressionista.
Il secondo passaggio.
Let's talk about the choice of cards.
As mentioned above the best is always 100% cotton and obviously the heaviness.
For beginners and for those who take small steps to this technique.
I recommend trying a lot of cards, so do not buy a whole block of sheets but buy them individually with different weights and different percentages of cotton; but as already stated above: the paper will become a subjective element.

Come detto in precedenza la migliore è sempre la 100% cotone e ovviamente la pesantezza.
Per i principianti e per chi si approccia a piccoli passi a questa tecnica, io consiglio di provare un po’ tante carte, quindi di non comprare un blocco intero di fogli ma acquistarli singolarmente con diversi pesi e diverse percentuali di cotone; ma come già detto in precedenza: la carta diventerà un elemento soggettivo.
