Joker was a blockbuster, but that's not enough to think about an upcoming DC villain tape.
Actor Joaquin Phoenix, who played Joker in the Warner Bros. movie, said the Joker's box office success is not reason enough to think of a sequel.
In an interview for the Los Angeles Times, Phoenix was asked about his readiness for a second Joker movie. He hinted that there are currently no motivations to incarnate again the mythical villain of DC Comics.
“I wouldn't make a sequel just because the first movie is successful. That is ridiculous, ”said the actor.
“I guess the fear was that you would lock yourself into doing something repeatedly that you don't really care that it doesn't motivate or excite you. Part of the whole attraction for me was that there were no expectations. I didn't sign an agreement to make more movies. It was a unique event, ”he added.
The Joker actor also told about the discussion he had with director Todd Phillips about a sequel. "Long before the launch or before we had any idea if it would be a success, we talked about sequels. In the second or third week of filming, I thought: 'Todd, can you start working on a sequel? There's too much to explore.' It was a kind of joke, but not really, ”he concluded.
Given these statements it may be possible, that we want to see a second part of the film. We do not lose hope that the actor again embodies the character of the joker, where we see him 100% as the clown prince of Gotham
city.
