Hello everyone, I Want say some about the place where i born and live to the Hive Community Ethiopia in Lalibela, My friend #Josh been in this Historical places!
The town of Lalibela set in the mountain of Northern part of Ethiopia, is most famed for it's rock hewn churches and probably the only first place in Ethiopia that no tourist should miss Known as Roha until recent times, Lalibela was the capital of Ethiopia in 12th and 13th centuries, King lalibela the rock churches are ascribed Legend has it that angels came down from heaven either at night or at dawn to assist king lalibela with the immense task and the town is situated at an altitude of 2480 above sea level.
Even if the fame of the wonder's of the world has been outworn and the word Wonder itself has been misused too often, the visitors will rediscover it's true meaning when faced with the rock hewn churches of lalibela, Therefore writing about these churches is indeed difficult as putting that unbelievable complex, since the first European to describe about king Lalibela, Francisco Alvarez come to the holy city between 1521 and 1525, Travelers have tired to put into words their experience praising it as the "new Jerusalem", this is an excerpt taken from what Fransisco Alavrez the Chaplain and chronicler of the Portuguese embassy.
The Rock churches of king Lalibela are Eleven in numbers and these churches were registered as world heritage site by UNESCO since 1978, the roch churches are divided into three groups. In the first group which symbolize by earthly Jerusalem, the second it symbolized by Heavenly Jerusalem and the extraordinary St'George which is located a little farther from the two groups makes the thrid group.
The biggest and most colorful holiday in Ethiopia Christmas in Lalibela which is celebrated on variably the 6th and 9th January and this holiday is given special prominence as the birth day of knig Lalibela coincides with that of Jesus christ, Hundred thousand of piligrimages and thousand of foreign tourists gather at lalibela to attend the colourful celebration of this holidays.
Most importantly seeing is believing than a millions of words about this world heritage site and you can see some pictures of the church.
